You guys know all and I need help. My Klean Kanteen water bottles have this little rubber one way valve. Let's air in when you drink.
I'd like to find a functionally similar part for a project but my searches are coming up empty. This one is made of silicone for food safety (don't Google silicone plug at work, trust me) but it doesn't need to be for my use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ford 2 barrel carb kit will have a rubber valve like that for the inlet of the accelerator pump. Probably half inch diameter, 1/16 inch hole for the mount.
You searched McMaster Carr for "check valves" ? They show 697 different varieties.
In reply to Cousin_Eddie :
Nope. All of the check valves are valves.

You're on to something. I'm following some google trails and it looks like umbrella valve might get me there. Getting close........
Edit: 100% found what I'm looking for. Here Now to figure out how to get some.

There is a link right on the top of that page for free samples.
In reply to EvanB :
Yes, I saw that. I emailed their US office about getting samples of the valves I'm interested in specifically, but I'll order the whole sample pack if needed.
The big problem with using any old container for a washer fluid reservoir is having it sealed enough that the alcohol in it won't evaporate, but not so sealed that air can't get in. OE's do a good job with their caps, but I think these valves might make it possible to use anything. Also non-pressurized radiator overflow and really any catch can. Or maybe I should just drill a small hole in the lid and call it good, but the engineer in me hates that solution.
My washer fluid reservoirs use a snap on cap - they can't be sealed *that* well. One of those little one way breathers from a dirt bike with a hose barb would let you use any cap you want. Or use one of those brass breathers.

I think the point of them is to not seal well enough that they won't let air in but seal just well enough that evaporation isn't an issue. Works fine with OE stuff but sometimes I want to use a non OE solution. And yes, a bunch of other breather options, this one just seems particularly elegant. I get fixated on this sort of thing. My wife just ignores me when I'm like this.
Do you have an old yard/chemical sprayer around? The kind you turn the handle and pump to pressurize? If so, at the base of the pressure chamber is one of these umbrella valves. Probably made of silicone or viton to be chemically resistant. You could test with a take out before ordering a whole test kit.
Harley breather check valves. A few different sizes.
Seth, their page shows that they are at a trade show next week I will also be at. I can request samples while I’m there. Let me know if you want me to do this and your timeframe. Send me a private message if you want me to pursue.

MD&M Anaheim? I've been a few times. Cool show for sure.
Seth-many condiment bottles (mustard for sure and probably ketchup) use a silicone valve in the top down versions. May be the EZ button you are looking for here. Maybe Mrs Deuce wont notice if one goes missing? Maybe blame one of the Deuceling's if she does.
BTW-I searched for mustard container silicone valve for some images. Unlike silicone plug, that term is SFW!
While I'm being a post ho, I used a sintered metal vent plug on my radiator recirculating catch can. That may work too.

That would be the one! GRM meetup anyone? :-)
If you only allow air in to the reservoir, what happens when the tank heats up and stuff expands?

Not going this year unfortunately. Two manufacturers I sell for will be there as will some of my customers.

The ones I found are actually a duckbill valve in one direction and an umbrella valve in the other. That's kind of why I'm so geeked about them. They're neat.
I read the first posts of this thread earlier today and then this afternoon while I was filling up the diesel with DEF I thought of it again.
The AdBlue containers, or whatever they are called have a very simple one way valve to let air into it so that it drains faster into the tank.
Not sure this helps, but i thought I take some pics. I kept it, let me know if you want it and I will mail it to you.

I learned through my searching today that those are called duckbill valves. They're actually quite easy to find on Ebay though it's hard to figure out why they're more prevalent than umbrella valves.
There's a lot of interesting stuff floating around in the world that we don't see.
The center of a radiator cap has a brass version of that type of valve too, so that it keeps the coolant in while heating up but allows it to draw from the reservoir when cooling down.
