This piece of wood is at the top of our stairs, and over the past 3-weeks these shroom-like things have sprouted. Besides knocking them off, how should I deal with them?

Sounds like a personal problem, but that looks like untreated lumber where it really needs to have treated lumber.

Multi Quat. 2 oz / gallon is what he uses. He had mold problems at his TRF booths. He sprays them down with that, no more mold problems.
