Getting ready for upcoming autocross season.  I need to replace the corded RE-71R's on my 91 Corvette that is lightly STU prepped.  It seems like the Yokohoma A052 is the new top dog 200TW tire, the problem is they don't come in my size.  I need 275-35-18 and it looks like the closest size in the A052 is a 275-40-18.  My C4 has the torquey L98 with a ZF 6 speed and the lower rear gear option, so i am not too worried about losing a little low-end grunt with a taller tire, but am not sure if the taller sidewall will be an issue with the Yokohamas.  So should I pull the trigger on the Yokohamas or go with Falken RT660's or something else?  Thanks for the input.

Good luck finding any of them in stock anywhere. I'm in the same boat right now.

FWIW, Tire Rack shows the A052 in 275/40R18 in stock.

The A052's run REALLY wide, I'd go down to the 265/35 so your overall diameter is closer to what you have.

A052 265/35 is basically the same width as most 275/35s. And they really like wide wheels and lots of camber, not sure what size wheels you have but if they're 10s or less I'd definitely take the 265s over the tall 275s.

I am running 9.5 inch wheels.  I just put on SPC adjustable upper control arms and had it aligned so I am no longer camber-challenged.  The last 2 seasons in B-Street trim, the car destroyed the shoulders on the RE-71's.  I didn't know the Yoks had a 265-35-18.  If STU didn't limit width to 275, I would actually go wider...but that 265-35-18 in the Yoks is probably the way I will go.

As of this year the limit is 315s/11" wheels. But for 9.5" wheels 265 is really as wide as you want to go with A052s if you want them to wear well.
