In these uncertain financial times, I find it good to remind myself that it could be worse. We could be broke and fighting zombies...
I've seen;
Both Dawns of the Dead - liked them
All the other Romero stuff
Return of the Living Dead - too silly
28 Days Later - liked it
28 Weeks Later - not so much
Dead Alive - is there such a thing as too much gore?
Bad Taste - An all time favorite
Several others.
I've only read World War Z and really liked it. Mostly I'm looking for recommendations for zombie "literature", but maybe this can be the reference thread for all things zombie????

Quick work on the picture. My local lib-ary doesn't have that one...
Return of the living Dead does have a kick-ass soundtrack, though.
You didn't mention Shaun of the Dead--movies that good are almost literature!

I've actually read that (a roommate in college had it). It's pretty dang funny.

I skimmed through the Zombie Survival Guide. I was very interested by its suggestions on firearms. Despite the prevailing Shotgun philosophy for zombie defense, they suggest an older semi-auto carbine assault rifle, using some sort of common hunting round.
They're light, rugged, and easy to handle. Fairly accurate. They have a larger clip size and are quick to reload. Ammo is plentiful and easy to find almost anywhere. And you can get off multiple good shot to the head without wasting ammo. Being able to scrounge ammo at any sporting goods store is invaluable.
They strongly caution against using fully automatic weapons. Those just waste ammo. It's not as important to put multiple hits on a zombie as it is to get one shot to the brain.

There was also an Australian film called "Undead". It features a gal with a triple-shotgun.

Saw Shaun of the Dead again the other night. I saw bits and pieces of Redneck Zombies 20 years ago. The version I saw more recently was edited for content and really sucked.
Diary of the Dead was pretty amusing.

You all seem to have overlooked the original "Night of the Living Dead". Classic.

Hhhheeeelllloooo...Zombie Strippers
Zombies, Stephen King style. I enjoyed it!
I'll second Cell.
Not watchable or readable but check out Zombies!!! the board game. Good times.
Cell wasn't King's best but it wasn't bad. I can just see King walking down the street somewhere seeing cell phones glued to every head and the little light goes on...

World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide were great. I bought a plot of land in the middle of nowhere, just like it said to. I am ready for a stage 4 attack!
I know you're looking for 'literature,' but you can't talk about zombies without mentioning Resident Evil.

I think World War Z overlooks the potential of civilianized military rifles like the AR15 family. They're semi-auto, so you have to make each shot count, but they offer incredible options for mounting versatile accessories like lights, optics, lasers, bipods, etc. My personal zombie gun is a 16-inch AR with an Eotech Holosight. It's light, holds a ton of ammo, is more accurate than I am, and you'd be surprised how many household uses you can find for a bayonet. Also, remember that you're fighting zombies, not grizzly bears wearing body armor. Since only head shots are useful, you don't need some large-caliber cannon. A .22 auto target pistol is just way more useful than an S&W .500 revolver.
Oh, and google the as yet incomplete Zombie flick "The South Will Rise Again." Never have I laughed so hard.
BRAINS!!! MUST HAVE BRAINS!!
(actually that was just the coursewalk at last sunday's auto-x)

If you like graphic novels, definitely check out The Walking Dead from Image Comics.
Not as good, in my opinion, but still worth a read is Zombie Tales from BOOM! Studios. It's a bunch of short stories in graphic novel form. Some good stories, some kind of weird... zombie bunny rabbits?
MAX Zombie from Marvel is a pretty decent read, and if you also like Marvel superheroes, there's Marvel Zombies, which answers the question "What happens when superheroes turn into zombies?".
I also just found another zombie novel, Day by Day Armageddon (A Zombie Novel), on Amazon. I don't know how it compares to World War Z, but the reviews look good and I'll probably pick it up.
If you want a zombie forum, zombiehunters.org is full of good info.
Oh, and another movie to watch is Planet Terror.
