My press car this week. I call him "Bruce" after Dr. Banner. He's loud, burly, attention-seeking and just a little bit misbehaved. It's like walking around with a big, green boner.

I'm glad I'm not the one that asked that question- but I would have.

+1.
But more importantly, Leslie, what do you have to say about the Boss?
Goodness, you don't have to have one of your own to have known a few
The Boss is great. I was on the launch at Laguna Seca and sampled the regular 302, such as Bruce, above, as well as the mighty Laguna Seca edition. It's a beast, but actually handles great. Marvelous six-speed shifter – 1st is a little useless – with a great clutch. Not sure I'm crazy about the lime green, but it sure is an attention grabber. Loving the recaro seats, truly, madly and deeply.

For a car that would see DD duty as well as HPDE, is the regular 302 sufficient? Or is the Laguna Seca version so much better that it's worth the extra $$$?
In reply to Lesley:
I'm assuming you've driven a 2011 or newer GT also. If so, how do they compare as street cars?
Also, I've been tempted to pick up a '11 or newer 6 cyl or GT. I don't really care for the '13 front end in comparison, but how much better is the '13 than the '11 and '12? IOW, are there enough improvements to suggest that I should just get over the front end and buy a '13?

I would welcome those answers too. In fact, I would love to read a comparison between the various late model Mustang iterations. V6 vs V8. 2011/2012 vs 2013. Performance pack value?
I was really impressed with the GT, drove it on the launch in the canyons around Mulholland. Talk about a great test of the suspension. The V6 is particularly impressive, it's no longer a penalty box for the frugal. Sounds great, handles just as well. Also drove V8 GT recently at Dearborn on a slalom course – didn't notice any dramatic improvements and personally I'd be really happy with the previous model (course, I buy 15 year old cars...)
As a daily driver, I doubt you'd be happy with the Laguna Seca - that front splitter is so low it's only a matter of time before you destroy it – also there are no back seats. It's just bloody fantastic, but the Boss is only a second slower around the Mazda raceway and so much more liveable. I've been grocery-getting, commuting, errand-running and just tooling around town in it, and it's not that much different than a GT.
Here are my thoughts on the GT:

I saw the headline, and was hoping it would be something like this

Don't make him angry....
...you won't like him when he's angry.

I would think if a gal saw a green boner she'd be checking for, er, 'problems'.
Was the V6 you drove one of the manual versions? Ever since I heard '300 HP V6 31MPG highway' I have sorta wondered if it's all that and a ham sandwich. I would think it would be better balanced too and that would be my #1 priority over raw horsepower.
Drove manual and auto versions. Auto's a bit ho-hum (and no freaking paddles, can you believe it?), but the manual is terrific.
I heart the boss, I lust after the Recaro's for my 05 GT, and good LAWD I hate that green.
Enjoy the big green...er...boss.
