My boredom is reaching new depths. I have started playing with my models again and want a bus. I found this on line and know I could not cut it out by hand. If I wanted to have it laser cut from a sheet what would I have to do to this drawing. Use small words, I don't know much about this.

What kind of material?

How big?

If you wanted it cut out of paper, I may be able to help you out, depending on size.

If you can get that drawing as a PDF, the guy running the laser can probably take it from there.

I want it cut from styrene, it scales out to 20 inches long. Once I get a PDf how do I find someone to cut it?

Grab the yellow pages, look up "plastics" and start asking the guys who answer the phone the same question. I don't know who can do this kind of thing in my area, but I know who I'd ask first - the place where I get plastic cut.

Check this place out -

https://www.inventables.com/technologies/x-carve

It will do what you want, but costs $700

There is a forum, maybe join and see if you can get someone with one of these to cut it out for you.

Cut it from metal.....full scale. Then weld together!

Get it cut out of thin aluminum and hand paint it. That would be neat. Of course I couldn't paint it well enough, but I'll just assume you're a very good painter

For styrene, you'd need a waterjet. No laser is gonna do it.

I deal with those every day and if it was me, I'd get some sheet styrene and cut it out by hand.

You'll need to log in to post.
