I keep getting emails every time someone posts on a particular thread that I don't remember clicking to watch, and in my profile I don't have it checked to send me email notifications for anything. So how can I make the emails stop, short of hunting down and wacking everyone that is posting in that thread?
Rehit the little heart icon
Go to your watch list, find the thread, click remove next to the thread title.

it did for me … found the thread, and clicked on remove … refreshed … and poof it was gone

Not that it matters, but there is no "remove", at least on my computer. I clicked on the "watch topic" heart, and it told me I was already watching it.
For that matter, how do I watch a topic? I don't see any hearts, and when I go to my watchlist I says I'm not following any threads?

When you are in the thread you want to watch, you click on the little red heart at the bottom left of the page.
I don't see a little red heart?
It's at the very bottom of the page, right above the dark grey footer on the left side.

It's there on the mobile version of the page, not the desktop version.

when you click on the "jump to" and scroll down to "your watch list" you get a list of threads you're following … that's where the "remove" was

interesting … I don't have any type of mobile device … all I've got is a desk top ( Mac mini) and it's there …..

I see it now. I was looking for it in the same area as the heart. IMO, it would make sense to put the button you click to watch a thread in the same place as the one you click to stop watching a thread, but what do I know.
Not on my Win7, Firefox 37.0.2 Laptop.
Its there on my iPhone though.
Sounds like a bug for the developers to look into.
