I have a "thing" about broken glass. More than once, shattered pieces of glass were not disposed of properly and found their way into my body. So I am kind of a crazy Nazi about it now. If something breaks, I methodically clean and vacuum, and all glass goes into a sealed bucket that is clearly marked "broken glass". I now need to get rid of it responsibly, I assume just putting it out with the recycling will be OK. Any other options?

Got a torch?

We always just put it in the dumpster and make it Someone Else's Problem. Although, when we get a glass recycling bin, we'll probably put it in there instead.

I purchased a large container with a lid and wheels. I think it was called a "trash can". As it turns out, it's been fairly multi-purpose and has been able to hold all manner of refuse. The city swings by and empties it out every Monday morning.

At the house, it goes out with the trash. I don't treat it any different than I would dirt.

At the office, I throw out several hundred sqft a year. It all goes in the dumpster. Some of the sheets are 3' X 6' so most of it I try to shatter as it goes in, so it will take up less room. It also doesn't get bagged or processed in any way.

Check with your recycling program first, they may only take things like glass jars and bottles. Mine specifically says not to recycle broken window glass, but to put it in a container in the trash.

(paranoia: MAX) They don't want you recycling broken window glass because it is dangrous for the people who go through your recycling to investigate just what and how much booze you are processing per week you lush (paranoia: OFF)

We use them in the fight club dungeon with some resin and gauze to make some cool gloves.

Actually, it's because the recycled glass is used to make new food jars and beverage bottles. Other types of glass may have ingredients that aren't compatible with food grade glass.

Glass goes into the recycling container. All glass, no matter if beer bottle or tempered window. The process of recycling glass is melting it down in a million degree furnace, I don't think the kiln cares what it's fed.
