How to get rid of furniture from an entire house quickly?

As in by the end of the month. And without a garage sale due to housing development rules. Even outdoor furniture, 3 t.v.s, wall hangings, appliances. Hell, even a golf cart (ran when parked ).

Ah, you should have mentioned that. Rent a storage unit for the stuff, move it in there sharpish and then sell the furniture in smaller lots once you're out of the house?

Auction house also. Commission is steep usually, but it's quick.

I second the auction house. They will probably base their commission on whether they collect or you deliver, etc. It is certainly the easy way.

With furniture, I have only had luck unloading furniture on craigslist for free. I tried selling a really nice couch for $50 for a week. Put it up for free the day I needed it gone, and my phone rang nonstop, with 5 people racing over simultaneously to pick it up.

If you were in Ohio I would be all over it. Find new homeowner who has nothing. OR garage sale everyday till its all gone.

We just cleaned out my dad's house of 45 years of raising 6 kids. A LOT of work but it took time. I ended up renting a trailer and filling my garage until I can sort it out. A lot of the furniture was taken by the kids or given away to family and friends. Furniture is hard to get decent money from - most want it for pennies or free.

The cheaper it is, the faster it will move. If you want money, you may have to store it.

Had a bed with mattress I needed gone in a week because we were moving and didnt want to take it with us. Listed on CL for $30, had 5 replies that night. Gone next day.

List it for stupid cheap on CL, say that they need to haul it away, it will go quickly.

Way easier than hauling to the dump, you get a few bucks for the PITA of it and no lifting.

Not to hijack the thread, but seriously, no garage sales because they say so?? Do they somehow detract from property values? I doubt whether these sorts of rules prevented an ever deeper slide in property prices in 2008/09. I've never understood HOAs, and I never will. Garage sales are the best!

Sorry for delay, been super busy. Thanks for all of the input. Exploding or burning the place has a definite appeal. Load up the Harbor Freight trailer and burn the rest. It's a rental in a gated community so it's pretty restrictive. I found the place to care for my brother so I had to put up with the rules. It has been really nice and I did yard work within it's confines so it worked out well.

Hell, I don't even know where I'm going so it's a bit crazy. little scary, too.

I'll call around about a whole house acquisition, there's a seconds furniture place where I actually bought a kitchen set that may work. I'm reluctant to try CL on such a short notice. What about a newspaper classified add. Does anyone still use them?

Nicksta, I wish it was for a car but just need to clear out. There is a nice used set of Ohlins that I've been eyeing, though...
