I need help.
Im trying to organize my basement. One big problem is that I have seven extra bucket seats down there. Right now, they are just sitting on boards and leaning against stuff in warious places. I need a better solution.
Hit me with some ideas.
I've thought about this since I regularly have my seats out of my car for long periods. I was thinking about wrapping mine in packing shrink wrap next time. I haven't actually tried it yet but it sounded like a better idea than letting them collect spiders under a trashbag like I tried last time.
Following for suggestions since I'm in a similar situation - I have four sets (that I can remember) of seats in my attic right now. Boy do seats take up a lot of room.
A friend has a garage/shop with fairly high ceilings so he stores them on the top shelf of storage bin racks, but that's not really an option for me.
I'm thinking that some sort of cart is probably the answer.
I could do a 4'x4' dollie and put four of them back to back, but that's still a big footprint.

Sell them. Problem solved.
I've also considered hanging them upside down from the basement ceiling, up against the wall.
In reply to Indy - Guy :
One pair is the original set from my 911. Those need to go with the car.
One is brand new and it's the only race seat that I can fit in that also fits in a Miata. Came from England. Took six months and lots of money to get here.
Two are my dream Recaros, currently undergoing restoration.
Other two are lesser dream Recaros in near new condition. Just waiting for me to find the righ brown car to put them in.
Convert them to high back swivel chairs.

This was to be my suggestion. Doubles as art.

Recline them all the way flat, then wrap them in pallet wrap, basically just heavy duty big seran wrap. Now they take up less room and stay clean. Then hang them on hooks on the wall by the headrests, or you can stack them all in a pile.
Selling seats seems like a great idea but shipping is hugely expensive. I have a Sparco that I can't sell as shipping is so much.

I already have the greatest swivel chair ever.
Hang them from the ceiling with the backs against the wall. I'd hang them from the brackets so you don't crush the foam. Maybe a breathable cover (like a sheet) so they don't get dusty, but also don't mold.

Super awesome in theory, not so great in practice.
I have a full leather interior for a first-generation Neon sedan in my basement.
Short of just dumping them out on the curb, I haven't been able to give them away for free. Not even here.
I sold my last Neon in 2006.
My spare seats live in the attic. Anything to clear stuff out of the garage/shop.

Reclining them, bagging them and stacking them was my first thought. With a layer of cardboard between each one so they don't cut into each other. You probably can't stack them too high before something gets stabbed near the bottom of the pile though.
I have to agree with the sell it mentality but I understand if that is not for you.
I would make chairs out of it, If you are using them then they will probably keep better than stored in a basement or attic. Maybe not a fancy office swivel chair but just stationary chairs like a loveseat for a game room or play room or even the living room.
"But Mom, I neeeeed these!"
Either a custom built shelving unit so they are stacked to take up the footprint of only one pair of seats, or turn them into furniture.
Or realize that you are too old to ever make use of all of them, and move on. (Do what I say, not what I do.)
It isn't the perfect solution but I always put them full forward and then flip one over and stack them facing each other so they end up like a Z. They kind of rest on each other's headrests. This makes 2 seats take up the space of 1 seat and then prevents you from stacking stuff on top of them.
Otherwise unless you "need" them selling them is a Option.
69 them, wrap them in packing wrap (saran wrap) and stack them against a wall/corner.
If you build a sim rig that will take care of one of them!
