It worked out fairly well, they produced productive offspring!

I am not saying that everyone who leaves prison will go back to there old way, sometimes people do learn there lesson and become a better person because of it. But when it comes to my families safety, especially my child, who would have no way of defending herself against an adult who has been proven (twice) to be the worst kind of human being, I would not put them in that situation.
that's my point .. poorly stated … and NO I don't believe that "they're all better now" … just that they have served their penalty as proscribed by law … but in the case of sex offenders they now pay for the rest of their life as opposed to other released felons .. so I guess I'm asking why we think this is right
and I DO understand the worry parents have for their children's safety … but I also think that we as a country shouldn't punish beyond what the courts proscribe … it's a conundrum that I'm actually more curious about than actually PO'ed about …
I'm not trying to force sex offenders (who are VERY likely to repeat) onto a neighborhood, but would like to see if there is a fair way to treat someone who's paid his (her) debt to society
HiTempguy wrote: In Canada, mental health related crimes can see you detained indefinitely until you are deemed better. You are then monitored very closely for years. Edit- I should clarify that my point is that just because you are a pedophile doesn't mean you have to sexually assault a kid. Just like a man who is into legal aged women doesn't have to rape them. If you do those things, its not because your mental condition forced you to, its because you are a f*&ked up individual. That E36 M3 doesn't change, especially pedophilia, it is a DISEASE and it CAN'T BE CURED. So if you are a pedophile who ACTS on your brain being screwed up, prior actions predict future behavior, so yes, you should not be "free".
in that case keep them incarcerated … life sentence without possibility of parole … sending them out into society with very little in the way of chances to support themselves, live by themselves doesn't seem right …
lepers colony maybe ?

and even if there is no school there when he moves in … doesn't mean that one won't be built sometime in the future
