Next time bring your magic carpet. Dunedin is very golf cart friendly.
Reminder to everybody facing possible evacuation:
BY THE TIME YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT YOU SHOULD EVACUATE, IT WILL BE TOO LATE.
Hurricane Ian killed about 150 people because they waited too long to evacuate.
It's better to chill in an air BnB in Miami for a couple of days than play roulette with nature.
In reply to CrustyRedXpress :
A lot of that can be attributed to people that CAN'T evacuate as well. Some of the population doesn't have that option. Unfortunately.
I went out to St Pete Bch to do a last check on my building. Only a few cars left in the parking lot, only saw signs of two tenants still there. The first band of rain came through as I left and high tide is in about 15 minutes. The water is within 6" of topping the seawalls right now. That is a bit higher than normal for high tide. If the bow wave of this storm is already pushing water this far north, I'm really worried about surge after it goes by.
Just got the (extensive) soffit and fascia damage fixed from Ian this past Friday. Dark right now, but not much wind or heavy rain so far.
Ft Myers Beach, which flooded heavily in Ian, already has water over the road. Full moon is tomorrow night I think, so extreme tides are possible.
Hoping it doesn't change direction while I'm at work.
Tree guys just left, so that’s a sigh of relief–just a little trim here and there to remove some weight.
Good luck FL folk. My FiL is in Punta Gorda.
My current trip to Norfolk, VA has already extended me due to work stoppage due to the projected storm's track. You folk get the brunt of it so I cannot complain here.
Came across the Skyway with winds around 25MPH. No big deal.
Did see a group of people along this stretch of the Skyline that were 100% camping. Seriously had a tent setup, couple hammocks between the trees, the whole 9. No clue what was going through their heads, probably a lot of THC.
The wind surfers were having a blast.
I'm in Suwanee County which is about 45 min inland from the coast and directly in the projected path. I'm getting ready to bug out here in a couple minutes. Y'all stay safe.
In reply to TJL (Forum Supporter) :
And less than a minute after that first band hit us, the power went out.
Came back a minute or so later.
In reply to Slippery :
I saw the track earlier today and said motherberkeley will it turn around? How are the guys doing down south?
In reply to Stampie :
Apparently we didn't learn our lesson from something. I'm thinking about going to Disney anyhow.
In reply to Mndsm :
Not that we didn't learn lessons. Just that we know what we can get away with. Until we don't.
