I have the additional benefit of being inland and thus not super worried about water, and having lived through enough tornadoes to not really worry about wind. Not sure if blessing or curse.

Looks like Tampa Bay area is going to miss the brunt of it. That is a relief.

These are the times when it sucks.  We look at the ones we love and know.  Hope it avoids them.  Next we hope it avoids the major population areas.  But there's always some people that get berkeleyed.

Kinda.  We're on the strong quadrant of the wind and rain.  I still expect some good storm surges and such

I am monitoring the camera at Frenchie's on Clearwater beach since it is a view I can relate to. I would like to find something near the north side of the Sunshine bridge since that is near my brother's place.

Good way of putting it. There’s relief that it doesn’t hit you yet it still impacts plenty.

Other than one band of rain–and not even that bad–it’s been quiet here in Ormond.

Heading up in a few.

Good luck Florida. You might get hit twice, once from the Gulf and another time from the Atlantic. Stay safe.

This last feeder band is putting up a fight.  Had a 51mph gust just before I took this shot.

I keep an eye on this one to see if the breakers get passed the beach. This is right in the middle of St Pete Bch.

From where I'm sitting the turn in the last hour or so makes me a bit nervous.

The prediction that shows it hook and turn back toward the east coast is something I was looking at yesterday...

My family is just east of Tallahassee and will be getting a bit of a breeze this morning.

I joked with a friend back home that it was going to come back around.  Glad the GFS guys are listening.

Well, thankfully for ME, it made landfall well north of where it was initially predicted, or at least where I thought it was going to. Gonna be a lot of sitting around being bored today.

I found a few youtube channels that are very accurate, no hype, no fear mongering, just educated assessments of what's going on and realistic forecasts. So far with Ian and Idalia they hae been shockingly accurate 24-36 hours ahead of NOAA and the others. That 180 turn was mentioned a few days ago.
Others have eluded to this, but I feel a split of relieve that, for us, it's only been a bad summer storm that went on way longer than it should have. Being that our tarps blew off and we still have Ian damage, we are very happy. But the other side of that split is that we know others are going to get hammered.

All good here at home in Ormond. We have power and nothing to clean up. I’ll take that.

And my flight to Atlanta was eventually canceled.

I know that spot. Water is way up, but not past the sand,  so I would say that the locals dodged another one.  Having family in FL is stressful enough, how people live there is beyond me.

Well.  That was a bunch of nothing for me.  Small to medium branches down in the area.  Still nice and windy with some smattering of rain.

How is everyone else?

Hopefully, those on the FL coast aren't getting hammered too badly.

The rain and wind have started to pick up here. The forecast track shows it crossing right above our house. Wind speeds should be down in the 40-60 mph range by then. That should be manageable.

I shuffled cars last night and got the MH and everything important away from the woods.

If there is any silver lining here for the folks on its path, is that this thing is still moving pretty fast at 18mph.
