WE have a few of these things in my family. I have a cousin named Addidas Nikena.

My sister and her First husband chose a totally different last name than either of them had. It was weird.

My wife took my last name. I think it was a downgrade for her.

Reminds me of some friends of mine; they named their son Otto Maddox. Seriously.

My wife took my last name...totally a downgrade for her. She decided to ditch a perfectly good maiden name and sign up for a lifetime of mangled pronunciation.

That's commitment right there. :-D

Haha. My wife got the opposite. My last name is perfectly easy to spell and pronounce. Her maiden name is too, BUT, since we live in SoCal, everyone always pronounced the double "l" as a long "e." It is actually quite amusing, as they are about as far from a Spanish/Latino family as you can possibly get.

I had cousins that were invited to the Hoppengarner-Heffelfinger wedding. They didn't hyphenate, but I would have if I was one of those marrying. Damn fun to say.
