I am sick of snow!

I've come to the conclusion that I do not necessarily hate snow, or even winter for that matter. I hate the idjets that forget (every snowfall) how to drive in it causing my drive to and from work to be 100% pure hell.

Yes, there are hardcore skiers that will drive to the top, ski down and then drive tot he top again. Obviously someone has to be the driver, but you just take turns. I have watched it, but never skied.

The only "hill" I've seen in Florida is bridge over water. I'm pretty sure the highest point in the whole state is the top floor of a hotel.

I cant get out of my driveway, 1/4 mile with two hills made of gravel. The gravel is encased in ice right now. If it warms up and melts a little I will take my truck to the road and walk back so I can get out tomorrow. I also gotta make a beer run and I aint walking the 10 mile to the store.

Just drove 40 miles from Jasper to Blue Ridge in the Integra. Neighborhood was solid ice, Highway is fine, grocery store has lot scraped and salted.

Still snowing up here, which is good news, because the mother berkeleying luge we built in the back yard should have a fresh coat of snow by the time we get home.

Well I got up this morning and can't even get out of my driveway. 30-40mph winds plus light powdery snow means that it is blowing all over the place, sadly this means it mostly ends up in my driveway. Right now it is about 2-3 feet deep (depending on how close you get to my shop door) going the entire length of my driveway.

I finally made it out of my house in Decatur this morning. It turns out that 255 wide Dunlop Star Specs can also double as marginal snow tires with added RWD/LSD!

Well, made it out of the neighborhood. There are people in lawn chairs with coffees watching people try and make it up/down the hills in the subdivision. Guess i upset them by succeeding....

The roads are good in some spots, terrible in the rest. Have to say, the trip to the supermarket resembled a Special Stage... Oh, got the court date moved for another month.

Iiiiinteresting. I have 245 star specs on my ms3, and it's looking mighty lonely.

Yep.... one of those is me.

+infinity on the people from New England that can't deal with the snow. If you can't deal with it, then move somewhere where there isn't any! It's not like it's a big surprise that it snows up here in the winter, and I just don't understand why. English speaking people have known about it since the 1600's!!!!! Get a vehicle that drives ok in it, get a couple shovels (or a snow blower), and deal with it. It's not hard.

My only complaint is that my snow blower is broken and I have a bad back, so shoveling hurts. But that's partially my fault, because I should have sorted out the snow blower situation weeks ago.

Just did a 120 mile round trip in the storm to deliver a proposal to a state agency (yes they were actually open). The expedition did not skip a beat. I did not even have to put it in "real" 4x4. The computer controlled AWD select track was more than enough. You have to give the plows some room and be prepared for those plows that don't see you coming when they fly out of driveways. I saw lots a cars off in the weeds. I stopped and pulled an elderly gentleman out of a snow bank (I carry tow straps in the truck). He was so thankful. My good dead for the day. :-)

I learned that my snow blower does not like bricks. All of a sudden the snow being thrown was pink. I had to replace a sheer pin but other than that all was good. Stocked up on food and libations on Sunday so I did not have to deal with the milk and bread panic crowd. The only issue we may have it we are running low on hot coco (kids want more). I guess I get to go play in the roads some more. I was actually thinking of taking the porsche out.. . . It has snow tires on it. The looks I get from people when I take it out in the snow range from you are crazy to complete astonishment. being it is well over 3200 lbs and has almost perfect weight distribution it is actually not a bad RWD snow going vehicle. The only thing I have to watch is that I dont hit snow that is to deep as the front splitter will funnel all the snow up in the my radiator / lower grill.

We have about 20-24 inches and last I heard there is another 4-6 hours for snow still to come.

I rather enjoy tootling (yes I said tooling) along the snow and ice covered roads here in W. North Carolina in my state issue F 250 2wd, wish they would spring for a 4x4 that would make my life much easier. Thus far we were told to stay home Monday but otherwise we were expected to be in by 7am every day. I will admit to several pucker factor of 8.5 out of 10 moments getting to work this morning.

Finally got my truck to the end of the driveway. I will have to walk there in the morning as we are expecting 16 deg overnite. Not that it got warm enough today to melt anything at 29 deg.

Road in front of the house is plowed so the drive shouldnt be too bad.

Anyone have any good ideas on how to limit the amount of snow blown into the drive way? That is the major cause of the snow levels that I have right now, not the actual snow fall levels.

The wind blows across the front of my driveway and I end up with several feet pushing its way down into the drive way and piling up several feet. The driveway is wide enough to park 4 full size cars side by side and another 4 behind them. As you can imagine this can lead to quite a bit of snow. There are short (4 foot) chain link fences on each side of the drive so snow will blow right through those. The common wind is anywhere from 20-40mph here and mostly only goes the one direction across the front of the drive (basically follows the road).

Any ideas?

took me 2 hrs to go 38 miles today....I89 from concord nh to new london nh had about 6 inches of powder on it... i love to drive in but others make me cautious.

On your chain link fence apply another mesh (likely with zip ties) to reduce the amount of "blow thru"
