Light Seals are pretty easy to change, but also very messy when they degrade. Olympus XA light seals turn into some gooey mess after they've degraded....

I haven't seen a Sears branded 28mm lens in K mount in my thrifting/flea market searches. I did score Pentax-M 28mm F2.8 lens for like 3 bucks, but that along with the Sears Branded 50mm F1.7 and 135mm F2.8 went with the Ricoh XR-10 I sold a few months back.

I got my scan back from my Pentax Auto 110. Coastal still has some of that fuji 200 in 110 and wow, for being expired from 2009, came out really nice. I believe they are DSLR scanning the negatives.

I got up on Christmas morning, excited to shoot some photos of the kiddo opening presents, only to realize I was out of film.

Luckily, my wife had gotten me a few rolls of Cinestill 400D that were on my wishlist. It's the first time I've used the film, so I'll share the results here.

(Also: I think it's time I stock up on film for the Rolex 24. I've had good fun shooting Cinestill 800T at night, but let me know if there's any other films you recommend.)

In reply to Colin Wood :

You know, I haven’t shot anything from Cinestill yet the people at our local lab seem to favor it.

I recently shot some Ilford 3200. Grainy but kinda cool. I just got the scans back and need to post. I have a roll of Kodak 3200 in my bag.

For low light, I have been using a bit of Candido 800. I’m also tagging everything on my IG with the camera and film stock, so feel free to crib from my notes.

I found that I would rather push HP5+ three stops instead of pay for Delta 3200 because in the end the grain looked about the same, maybe slightly worse with Delta 3200.  Delta 3200 metered and shot at EI 800 with a very slight reduction in development time might be nice with the right developer but I'm still not paying Delta 3200 money to find out.

I'm also kind of cheap and like pushing film anyway.

Kentmere 400 pushed two stops worked well for me

There are a few articles and videos on youtube on people's success pushing it

TriX pushes quite well; I generally push it to 1600 rather than 3200, mostly because I like to shoot with large apertures and, using rangefinders rather than SLRs, I can hand hold down to 1/30 or even 1/15 on a good day.

I'm pretty good at holding an SLR with a 50mm prime at 1/30th but I often shoot in environments where I need more effective speed than 1600.  I've verified this by shooting the same scenes with the same glass with different digital cameras and 1600 is never enough, either at the time of shooting or it gets pushed in post.

So, something new to share. While at the grand opening for the new Bellows location in Orlando, I picked up some Arista EDU Ultra 400. I wanted to get something that the store here in Ormond doesn’t stock.

I just got the scans from the shoot with Valerie. No editing.

And here’s what she looks like in Tri-X. This was shot an hour or so earlier.

So, I’m thinking about getting a camera that doesn’t have a built-in light meter.

What external light meters do we like?

Looking for a cold shoe mount.

Thanks.
