Interesting......but let's do this the GRM way. I'm going to run 220V to my bathroom, remove the bath tub so I can install a shower and air compressor in the same space. That way I can air dry the blades with 110 p.s.i. at 60 cfm.

Add in an in-line heater so your ladyfriend can have the ultimate blowdryer.

Electrics don't work for everyone. I've tried several brands wet or dry. They make a noise similar to a spoon in a garbage disposal, and friction burn my skin without actually removing my stubble.
All brands of blades perform differently, I prefer Gillette.
I tried to keep my Fusion blade clean. I stroped it on a flat hard surface and stored it in rubbing alcohol.
The green "moisturizing" section is still green. That's different.
The blade is still shot though. Got almost 3 weeks out of it, so I'd say these methods go me an extra 1-2 shaves. :(
Going to grab a safety razor off amazon and give that a shot. Any recommendations?

There's really not a lot too them, so I'm not sure what to look for. I prefer a heavier handle, but know others who are just the opposite. I have the "Deluxe Vintage Safety Razor" from the link below. Don't ask me what makes it deluxe (or vintage for that matter), I got it because it was the cheapest in stock option with decent mass. The local stores didn't have any of any sort in stock.
For blades I've been using the Feather blades as seen:
http://www.classicshaving.com/Safety_Razors.html
I grabbed a few varieties, and while the most expensive option of the ones I tried, they gave me the best shave for the longest. Some people don't care for them though. I also tried the Lord and Merkur ones, neither were bad, but neither did quite as good a job, or lasted quite as long.
I also tried the ones Walmart had ?Wilkinson? (I'm not positive on the brand. The shave I got from them was actually quite good. Better than all but the Feather blades, but I never got more than 4-5 shaves out of them where I get ~2 weeks out of a Feather blade. Half the price for a quarter the shaves wasn't really a savings. The local Walgreens has yet another brand which I don't recall, but they're more expensive than the feathers (as long as I order a few packs a time to spread out shipping) so I haven't tried them yet..

Now put the 2 together and they will be better than either alone.

Get a multi-pack of blades and try them out. I have tried three different brand blades now. I'll use two blades back to back from each brand so I know I'm really getting a feel for the blade. They do each shave different. I have found that Wilkinson (sp?) swords are a little more, uh, aggressive but do give a nice shave. I dont' think it's a better shave then the other two brands but I DID notice that it's the only one that will nick me while shaving.
Do tell us what you think after using a safety razor for a few weeks. I for one, and never goin back. I guess I pay about $.10 a blade now and get nearly twice the number of shaves per blade. For me, it really is like night and day. Heck, forget about the price-per-shave even, the shave I get with a safety is WAAAY closer and the problem areas (corners of my mouth mainly) that I would cut EVERY time with a disposable are great now.

BS. All any electric I've tried on any setting does is hack up my face. Plus it tacks on more time to my morning routine. You've still got to lather for the non-electric razor, and the DE I use is good enough that I'm a one-pass shaver these days.
Of course, with with long blade change durations one might just assume a hacked-up face post-shave is the SOP.
I've never had a hacked up face from an electric, but I have had one from a blade.
Usually said hacked up face came about after letting my beard grow for a couple of days. Longer facial hair means harder to shave. Using the electric first makes it so that the blade doesn't have to work as much so both shaves are more comfortable. (since I don't have to get it all with the electric, just trim the bush down)
The electric does some parts of my face better than the blade. The blade does some parts better than the electric. With both you get the best shave possible and have the most comfortable shave you can get.
The rotary shavers are more comfortable on my face than the buzzers. The rotaries also require fewer passes, but not all rotaries are created equal. Get the one with the most cutting surfaces, on the Norelco that's 3 circles of cutting rather than 1.

Naw man, you said try an electric razor AND a manual razor, how much more awesomer it is.
I just said that for some people, that's total crap. Then I ruminated that perhaps due to blade-use habits, some people are used to crappy razor performance and take convoluted measures to compensate.
Oh and like others on here, I've tried both "buzzers" (foil-style), and rotary, wet and dry. Junk all around. I think it should be a crime to recommend them to innocent people.

Amen to that. The best shave I'd have with an electric razer was passable. And I have had them hack anything below my jaw-line pretty good.

yall complaining.... i have gone through a fusion blade weekly from my legs for ever. nothing lasts over a week (i shave my legs daily) and no my leg hair is not corse hair. i swear razor blades are gonna make me go broke.
Shaving cream makes a big difference also, I've still got a 30 year old Gilette safety razor, & a 3 blade Gilette whatever. Both are POSes with normal shave cream, acceptable with cheap Barbesol & good with the fancy gel in a pump (Kiss My Face) from Amazon.

It's not like you can't apply the same cost saving solutions. The faster you go through blades, the more money you'd save.

I've had one good shave from an (one) electric, and I've tried about 5 of them. The one good shave was from my grandpas, the thing costs about $300. Grandpa told me that I ruined the heads on it after just one shave (his facial hair is real soft; mine is super coarse).

I quit shaving. Had the same razor on the counter for almost a year now. Works wonders

You don't already have air plumbed through out your house?

I hope its better after a few weeks than after a few days. I've shaved with it twice. I don't think I've got the hang of it yet. Above the jaw was ok, but not super close. Below the jaw was very close, but looked like I got in a fight with a chainsaw.

yes i can strop blades... but ummm a safety razor ect... ya near my legs or armpits or other areas no thankyou..... sorry im bitter i tried laser hair removal with them claiming works on lighter hair.... ya no it doesnt.
Ow! Ow! OW!
I didn't shave all weekend and forgot to use the electric razor before I hit the shower. While it wasn't actually OW, the comfort I've grown to expect definitely wasn't there.
First of all I hadn't shaved since Friday, secondly I hadn't done part of the work with the electric razor.
I knew it was much more comfortable to use the electric first, but I'd forgotten how MUCH of a difference it makes.
And I still needed to use the electric afterward to get close up around my lips and soul patch area. After I nicked my self on the lip area I quit shaving there with the blade.
I never get nicks when I use the electric first.
