I feel like I *should* be appalled by this

...but I'm not.

This is for sale on my local Ebay (Australia.) '65 Alfa 2600 Sprint in lovely condition, going for about half of what this model normally sells for.

It all looks great...until you get to the engine bay. No Italian twin-cam beauty in there anymore. Instead, there's a comparatively pedestrian Holden 202 straight six.

Now, the car does come with a spare Alfa 2600 engine, but I wouldn't bother fitting it, at least not straight away. I'm thinking triple SU's, header and a hot cam for the 202, and leave it at that. You'd have a gorgeous looking Italian classic with an oddball, reliable power-plant.

Come to PA/NY/NJ where we have rusted out '02 or newer German, Japanese, Italian and domestics. You name it... it gets lighter with age here.

My '62 Chrysler doesn't have a spec of rust on it...and it's originally from upstate NY.

I like it. For $11k USD, it would make my short list. I love the Alfa engine, but that isn't the monstrosity some might say it is.

You could fit the v6 in there i think, it would be a bit of a job though. You would have to use a different oil pan, and convert it to use a front transmission (the stock configuration is a guibo bolted to the flywheel the clutch in the back with the transaxle). At least parts fore the v6 would be cheaper than a 2600 engine, i use a milano as a dd and the parts arent that bad at all.
