No, not that kind, little Florida land crabs. Have had three of them in the last few days. They come up to the edge of the front porch and aggravate the dogs. I think they are cute, about three or four inches across, but will not try to pick one up. Those little pinchers can draw blood. My Maltese loves to challenge them, but no damage yet.
We got cable, they got crabs.
Mmmm, I do love some crab. Especially with butter.
I can send you a can if you are interested.

These are not normally eaten, but our Haitian community does go out and catch them. Then they put them in a cage and feed them cornstarch to clean out their guts. I'm still not tempted. Blue crabs, hell yeah.
Well, I'm not surprised. Those are the consequences of choosing such a lifestyle.
I still have trouble believing that when I checked last week, it's cheaper to feed 6 to 8 people lobster than it is blue crab. I forgot how much wholesale lobster has dropped the past few years. (15 1.25lb live lobsters vs a bushel of jumbo blues)

Breaded on the inside, eh?
Cornstarch? I think you mean corn meal.
You know they get fairly large, non?

That is a coconut crab, largest crab. Really nasty from what I've heard. We don't have those here. Yet.

I love crabs, Snow, King, Dungeness, all delicious. When visiting my brother in AK we caught or limit of Dungeness, and had a feast, nothing like fresh crab.
This past Spring while in Pensacola, I had Blue Crab for the first time. Granted it was my first experience eating them, I got the yellow "mustard" stuff everywhere on the first 2 or 3 I attempted to eat, it was disgusting. I wound up just pulling the legs and claws off the rest, which is a lot of work for not much meat.
I decided Gulf crabs aren't for me.
