All my life, I've experienced some seriously strange, vivid, and sometimes lucid dreams after I fall asleep. I've joked that someday I'm going to write a book about them. So, this morning, I woke up remembering a VERY odd one.
In this one, I was over my parents' house, hanging in their kitchen. I found myself having a conversation with none other than Prince. He was wearing a getup like this:
As we were talking, he asked for a tall, cold glass of orange juice, so I poured him one.
We were talking about his guitar style, and I mentioned how he was a "shredmaster" and he never gets as much credit as he should for being so great at playing guitar. After talking technique for a while, I straight-up asked him how he died.
He told me this, and I quote: "Tony, I was hopelessly addicted, and it caught up with me. But not to drugs; don't believe the media. I had a secret addiction to Burger King that I kept from everyone. I was 57 when I died, but on BK, it was like I was 67. Stay away from that stuff if you want to live a long life! You can't shred when you're dead!"
What a weird dream, right? It gets even weirder.
I posted this dream up on Facebook this morning, and our own Wally M posted the following in a comment:
Wally M said: It sounds believable. When I was a kid probably around 84-85 Prince was playing Nassau Colosseum and they called to have to get my father to deliver a few cases of Orangina. That's got juice in it.
That's weird... and oddly specific. So I did some more research, and Googled "Prince orange juice" and this article pops up:http://www.delish.com/food-news/a46917/prince-favorite-foods/
And the first thing on that list: SPAGHETTI, (AS LONG AS IT'S PAIRED WITH ORANGE JUICE).
Wait, what???
Leave it to Prince to turn something as traditional and basic as spaghetti into a meal that seems completely original. According to an oral history of Purple Rain that appeared in SPIN back in 2009, the musician was a pretty big fan of his pasta, so long as it was paired with some good old O.J. "I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich," said the film's director, Albert Magnoli, of a meeting he had with Prince at a restaurant ("a Denny, or something like that"). "Prince ordered spaghetti and orange juice, which was one of his favorite meals."
So that's TWO sources that talk about his apparent love for OJ.
So, begs the question: Did Prince reach out from beyond the grave to warn me about the dangers of eating fast food, specifically Burger King? It doesn't make sense. I've read that he was a vegan, BUT he was eating it in secret, so there's that.
What the berk, huh?
