I am a little late to this thread, but am intimately familiar with the exact route described by the OP since my brother lives in Brigantine and works at the casino that Mad Machine does not have a new job at...
There is an incredible amount of concrete looming about you on a tight course and the left at the end is much tighter than any planning board should allow for the speeds that you can carry into it...
I am guilty of playing with less prepared cars on the exact same stretch of road... all I will say without incriminating myself is that it is amazing how much further you can push a well sorted mkI GTI vs. almost any other car on the road when you know what lies ahead... definitely one of those scenarios where 100hp can walk away from 300 if you have the balls to keep your foot in it...
I like driving my Forester at speed on onramps myself. I think I've surprised a few people not only how well a Forester can handle, but also how fast a manual trans Forester XT can jump into traffic if it is carrying enough speed off the onramp without even having to downshift.
I was getting tailgated by a dodge sedan. I was in the Escort already doing 10 over. 70 in a 60. It got to the point where I couldn't see her lights. This wouldn't bug me if I was in the truck, but the with the Escort being as small as it is, I decided she should meet my 4th gear. A little rev matching and she blew past me on the right as soon as an opening was there. She swerved left and right cutting around cars without realizing the fully marked state trooper with the moon scraper on the rear fender. On go the unmistakeable Code 3 red and blues.
How did he put it earlier?
Oh yea, Huzzah!
