The video's in the story are pretty good too.

Neat stuff, but it further strengthens my belief that baseball is the stupidest thing on earth. The guy pitches a perfect game, which is defined as not letting anyone get on base I assume? What does that have to do with the pitcher? Striking everyone out I can see, but people got hits and it was up to other people to stop them.

But OK, let's say that still counts. He did it, everyone knows he did it, there is proof that he did it...but it doesn't count because the ref was daydreaming? What good is the record book if it is so easy to miss out or get tossed out? It doesn't represent achievements...only who was looking at the time.

In reply to pinchvalve:

I'm a baseball fan, and I watched that game actually. It's amazing because it was a perfect game that was blown on the last out by an ump's call, and the pitcher didn't get upset in the least. He was a perfect gentleman, and one of the best examples of sportsmanship I've ever seen, in any sport. Because of this, it might be the most memorable "perfect game" in history, even though it's not in any record book.

Perfect games are exceedingly rare. You reference striking everyone out - pitchers have to face a minimum 27 batters in a game, and the most strikeouts ever in a game is 18.
