It's a bit late to start a trash talk thread, since the season is well underway, but I figure we have some fans that might want to talk about hockey from time to time.
As an opener, my home town team, the Hurricanes, are going to try to tie the NHL record for an unbeaten season opening streak in a few hours against the team that might post the biggest challenge to their potential to do it. I'll be tuning in.
Well, things are looking up for the Blackhawks. Because they can't possibly look any worse.
I think I'm a Whalers fan this year.
Red Wings look better than I expected- but this is a long season.
Since this isn't an NHL thread, my Michigan team is starting pretty well- #3 in the country and somehow, 4 of the top 5 draft picks are on our team this season- and we are constantly reminded when they are on TV.
As an Isles fan, the last few years have been good.
I'm (inexplicably) a Rangers fan (RIP) ...
but the Kraken have displaced the Canucks (boo) as the closest team, so at least I have something new to keep my eye on
The Lightning have had a rough start but are working their way back up the ranks. Salary cap and expansion draft took our entire third line. Coach Cooper is trying to see who is going to fill the holes. It will take about 15 or so games but the lines are starting to gel.
Canucks are looking like my Sunday night beer team so I don't expect to get too excited. Although I am willing to climb on the bandwagon late and say I was there all along as they either just miss the playoffs or go down in four in the first round.
Soooo I am getting called to ref SPHL. Do not want to.
Edit: and yes, this is a humble brag. But I really do not want to ref this.
The 'Canes looked bush league tonight against the Panthers. By the time they got their E36 M3 together in the 2nd period, it was too late.

Where are you at? Im in Winston Salem. Had I not found the Rangers back in 94 when I was a kid, I'd pull for the home team too. But Ive been to a few Canes games...when they play NYR ha

I'm in Raleigh. I used to like the Rangers and the Devils, but changed teams when the 'Canes moved to NC.
