Started a new job. Internet security document says "Don't install nothin', ever! We use IE as our browser, blah, blah...." Going through the training material, none of it worked in IE. Help desk says, "Did you install Chrome? It works fine in that. Install Chrome and try again."
I still don't understand using IE... I was using opera by the early 2ks... it had multiple tabs and would filter pics to speed up page loads (this was back in the 56k dial up days)... i'd have about 6 or 7 tabs open and just shuffle though... click the link and then to the next tab... by the time I was back to the first everything had loaded up.
while working a tech job in a call center you could see the line of geeks and non geeks (the smell also told you... but that is another story lol) add on to firefox allowed you to have multiple tabs open in different parts of the screen... a big deal when you are working from 4 or 5 different locations on every call on a single monitor... sadly we had to use IE for a few special corporate BS things... but 5 in a day or less it was up.
I moved to chrome when I started using a netbook... the additional screen real estate in default settings made it a good marriage with the teeny 10" screen... that was about 4 years ago and it's all I use now... wife uses firefox that way when she gets on the computer she doesn't mess with my settings and vice versa :)
I think the last time I used IE was when I removed win8.1 from this laptop and installed win7... and only long enough to DL chrome
If you want to REALLY love IE. Try putting together a website that uses CSS (very common). Microsoft seems to think a "standard" is "whatever Microsoft thinks". Older versions are REALLY bad.
The web would be a lot nicer and websites would be a lot cheaper to develop if IE did not exist.
