What’s the power source?
Battery is to finish up recording and to record when the g force sensor picks up impacts when it’s off. The main power source is usb and it includes a cigarette lighter usb power supply and cord.
Nope. Not getting one. Another small step towards big brother. How long before they become mandated? I see these in the same vein as those dongles that plug into your OBD port and monitor your driving for reduced insurance. Once they become commonplace they go from being an aid to not having them incurring a penalty.

Like blind spot warning, lane keep assist, radar cruise, wait what do you mean it's illegal to drive my own car? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?
If I had a dash cam I expect it would turn out to be something like what a person was wearing prior to being sexually assaulted. Most of the footage on it would probably be totally irrelevant to the actual incident, but would be used to attack my character/credibility, might be the tiebreaker in a case where the other side was not very clearly at fault, and might even make me uninsurable going forward. No thanks. I'll continue not crashing and not hurting anyone in total anonymity for as long as i can. Other peoples' insurance should be paying me protection money for all the payouts I opted out of by avoiding contact with people who were clearly at fault moving into my space, but I'll forgo that too if I just don't have to talk to insurance, cops, or incompetent drivers any more than i have to.

I will say I was happy to have the blind spot warning the other day on the way into work. It was dark (I come in early) and raining. Look over, no one is in the lane, just as I signal to move over, the warning lights up the side view mirror and beeps at me.
Some jerkhole was driving well above the speed limit, with no lights on. Raining and dark, no lights. Sure it's an edge case, but most of this stuff is.

True. Neither is insurance.
Again, apples and oranges. Insurance is legally required.
I was going to be pedantic and say it is a safety feature. It ensures my financial safety from someone elses mistake.
1. My parents were at a stop sign.. Guy rear ended them. No cops called. Guy said my mom reversed at a high rate of speed into him.. from a stop sign... What a total mess.
2. I'm driving down a road. Guy makes illegal turn on red in front of me. Cops come, don't cite man for illegal turn on red but note it on police report. Man claims I was driving without my headlights on and it was my fault his neck is ow. 5 years of legal bs and my insurance company gives him 7k to go away.. He wanted 100k.
I think I'm finally buying one of these..

I mean, you could say the same thing about a seatbelt or a fire extinguisher.
And a hand gun. Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.
Installed a similar Roav model (mine doesn't have Wifi but is otherwise the same) in both mine and my g/f's DD. It work fine, image is a little grainy, suction cup is known to fall off if the car is parked in the direct sunlight. Other than that it's been solid. I used these to provide the required 5V USB on switched ignition power up through the A-pillar:
