I have 3 kids myself (oldest is almost 6, youngest turned 4 months). I am also a 4th degree black belt, wife is 2nd degree. I hate to say it but if a guy comes into my house like that you sure as hell better be ready for a severe take down. I am very protective of my family considering I teach women's self defense classes about 3-4 times a year it's a well known fact you should protect yourself no matter what.
Back in my college years when I was a 2nd degree I had someone attack me with a knife. When they pulled the knife on me, the next nanosecond I was already hold the knife in my hand - told the person to back off or there will be problems. Situation ended.
In this case the perp's fault for entering a house he wasn't welcomed in. I think the dad did the right thing.
