In Alabama, we don't have much in the way of public transit. We mainly have heavily armed pickup trucks.

By the time we wake up and get angry about this stuff the opportunity to unberkeley ourselves will already have been lost.
That time, imo, has already passed. Sadly, imo, most people are thrilled to see it go, and happily embrace the results.

You could be right.

Suspicious activity? "Yes Mr.TSA guy, there is a car that keeps sitting on the road at the entrance to a subdivision near me. Describe it you say? Well it's white with black interior and black wheels. Oh yeah, there is one distinctive thing. It has blue lights on top. Every car that drives by he points a funny looking gun at."

How do you guys think that would go over?

My grandkids will hate us for our lackadaisical behavior, I'm afraid. There should have been fierce resistance to every little concession after 9/11. The world they inherit will be locked down tight or exploding all around them. Our fault.

Yep. And what are you going to do about it?

Everybody acts like they're aware that there's a problem, but I've yet to see any posit even an idea as to how to prevent the total erosion of our freedom.

I mean, no one even opts to resist the TSA, even when they're doing grope searches of 9 year old girls and making people remove leg braces before they'll let them through.

Revel in my 20/20 hindsight

I am as much a placid victim as the next guy - people don't rise up when they are comfortable and have something to lose. Guilty as charged.

I have written my reps. I have voted for the opposition. I have worked within the boundaries that are legal. The stranglehold we are being placed in slowly is subtle enough that if I explain my thinking to a room of strangers I sound like a lunatic. Lunatics do not influence policy, they step on the wrong toes and the ATF invades their compound and shoots their dogs. Until enough people come around - what else can you do but just point it out and try to make them aware of what they are giving up?

Don't confuse the TSA with the untrained, underpaid contractors the take pictures of your business through your clothes at the airport.
Say what? The TSA security officers are federal employees, with federal medical and pensions, and they start out making like, 25k a year. Hardly underpaid for a mouth-breather.

Many of them make more than that. There are contractors that make less. Not 100% sure, but I don't think they get the federal benefits.

Do you think 25 sacks a year is a good pay rate for someone who has a job in which the description includes the words, "homeland security?"

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Only a handful of airports have opted away from TSA employees and use contractors. And I think 25k starting is an ok salary for the skillset required to be an entry level TSA employee.

Soap box, Ballot box, Jury box, Cartridge box. As I see it we are at the last stages of the Ballot box. We need to fix this NOW. Political Correctness has brought us here. We can still climb back out of this hole. Up till now The People Trying to Corrupt America have been counting on our politeness and
aversion to conflict to forward their politics, and politics IS the vehicle that is running over us. When do you leave your comfort zone and start bruising egos and faces taking America back? Occupy "insert here"? Don't you see the political machine is going to pretend those fools represent the outcry of all Americans? It's all a setup and as far as I see we are setting back laughing at those idiots while washington acts like they are the core demographic. I saw 15 pages of Herman Cain commentary on this same forum, I'll tell you this, if half the things he espoused on the Neal Boortz Show are how he feels, he is sure as heck what we need versus another milquetoast moderate republican that will LOSE the election for sure or if not destroy America with their no leadership policies. Im done sitting on my butt. Stow your socialist commentary. Im done with fools. Sorry I went into a rampage with this post but I think it's on topic based on TSA being rammed down our throats despite it coming under JWB. TSA is just another nail in the coffin.
