Motor Trend TV is now part of Warner Brothers Discovery. Warner Brothers Discovery has been slashing and burning through its properties, from HBO Max (see you later Sesame Street, among others) to DC Comics (see you later Batgirl movie).

There's now a lawsuit involving Warner Brothers Discovery and the Motor Trend Group: https://news.bloomberglaw.com/business-and-practice/warner-bros-discovery-sued-by-motor-trend-joint-venture-partner

What a mess this whole Warner-Discovery merger has been.

All the shows I got a subscription for are gone now. There is no reason for me to subscribe anymore.

You did this to yourselves WB.

Not shocked. Anything associated with whatever is left of Petersen Publishing seems to get gutted every few years. Hopefully everyone can find a gig fast once the bleeding stops.

I agree the MTOD or whatever it's called now App (phone or Roku) is absolute hot garbage.

I will say that the only thing people like more than watching Roadkill is complaining about Roadkill. It's a lose lose situation for the hosts and show runner.

I used to get the MT channel as part of my Hagerty insurance.

Other than Roadkill and a couple of other shows, it was all the same formula of "Time is running out, money is tight, tempers are flaring" .

Sure sign that MT is failing is that Roadkill is airing full shows on Youtube.

Where do you see that?

The only full shows I see on YT are the ones that have been there all along.

I have been seeing more and more full episodes of current MT shows on YouTube.

I never subscribed to MT. I never felt it was worth it when it went to that model. There is so much good content on YouTube.

DC could legitimately do a MasterClass-style fabrication series and do pretty well.  "Your First Hot Rod" with David Chappelle.  If he doesn't already, he could partner with Miller welders or brand whatever tubing benders and be their "influencer" online and at the trade shows.  Both he and Fred should be around for a long time

EDIT: I guess he's already been laying that groundwork; https://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-dave-chappelle , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwI6SNektHk

I have had a subscription for a few years mostly to watch WEC/Le Mans and considered the other shows icing on the cake.

I like the HRG with Alex, I am a fan. Tony is awesome still, but he left for good reasons.

DED was awesome and I will miss it. Those guys did great and quick work, and generally seemed to be having a great time.

I'll keep the sub for Hot Rod Garage, Roadkill and Engine Masters. That's really it, though.

No doubt some people really liked Dirt Every Day but I'm guessing there are more people like me who didn't care for the show. I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly why except it seemed to me that Fred and Dave didn't care about the viewers. They acted like being filmed was a major inconvenience

The funny thing is that these YouTube based shows can be wildly profitable so long as they are run on a handful of people.  Look at Hoovies Garage as an example.

Where the problem starts is that MT is trying to pay a full crew and make the locales more interesting and the projects bigger and bigger.  As their investment grows and subscriber demand cools, they make cuts.

Fred could easily make a huge loving wrenching and building on his own or with Dave and posting it to YT.  I think the issue was MT trying to monetize it in a much larger way.

I dropped MT over a year ago as I found I was spending much of my time on YT for free anyway.
