I will give the background, but don't want the thread to devolve into a debate. I spent some time at work dealing with NSF and clean drinking water. One thing I learned is that stainless steel can Leach out hex Chrome in fairly small quantities especially when exposed to high temperature or low ph.

As someone who very much enjoys making a couple of cups of coffee ahead and bringing it to work, this is somewhat important for me. Coffee is somewhat obviously very acidic and very hot. As such I am currently using a thermos that Stanley doesn't make anymore with a ceramic lining. It's pretty good. It's too tall to drink out of and it doesn't pour great but it looks nice and ceramic is better than stainless.

The ceramic plating is starting to wear off. That isn't good either. I don't know of many people that make ceramic thermoses, at least something in the 24 oz range. My wife has one that she really likes from stoke, but it's teeny and all of their variants are teeny and they aren't really meant as thermoses that more as tumblers to drink out of.

Nothing to add other than the existing thermos is pretty great.

You may have better luck searching for a glass lined one?

Watching this thread with interest. We are trying to get rid of all of the plastic drinkwear in our house for the similar reasons.

Had a thought... got an REI in your neighborhood? I feel like this is something they'd have a solution for.

That's the exact one, actually, other than smaller and way more expensive. I have not seen them for same anymore.

Yes, and I tried that already.

I had forgotten about that - when I was a kid, that was the way all Thermoses were made.  The flip side of course was they were pretty fragile so you didn't want to drop them.  You may be able to find one at an estate sale.

I will take my risks of hexvalent chrome to have an indestrictible Yeti.

I imagine there are other brands out there but I found this glass lined insulated travel coffee mug on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Vacuum-Stainless-Insulated-Thermos-Available/dp/B075P5M38G?th=1  It says they use "high boron glass".

I'd think a vintage one on EBay would be your best chance

There are quite a few glass and ceramic-coated thermoses on the web.

Example.

I'm in for suggestions too, ideally a real actual brand and not jungle crap. I am sort of a coffee snob and can't stand the taste that metal and plastic thermoses add. I used to have a very tall ceramic mug that fit my cup holder perfectly, but it was still risky for spills while driving.

I might try out that Stanley one. If it keeps my specialty, freshly ground, pourover coffee tasting great in my car, it will be worth it.

W&P is an actual brand. https://wandp.com/collections/all

They probably have what you want.

Those look nice. Seems like the biggest they have is 20oz though... Seems like Tuna may be looking for more.

In reply to mtn :

Thermos makes a 35 oz glass version. Probably not as durable as the ceramic-coated ones though.

Tuna - The cap in the picture says "Lifetime Warranty". Can you get yours replaced free?

I submitted a claim. It's, surprisingly, only four years old.

So they are totally going to honor the warranty. I have to get pictures, and I'll remove my very functional handle for them, but that seems to be just that easy.

What are they replacing it with if they don't make it anymore? Sounds like a win though!

My guess is they withold a number of these for warranty claims after obsoleting them.

Well they approved the warranty based on my annoyed picture above, but they actually don't have one anymore anyway. The guy is trying to say "But how about the BLAH STANLEY GO FLOW COLD QUENCHER DELUX 24OZ? PRO XTREME?", so this has been fun.

Maybe I'll get a water bottle out of the warranty claim idea, but we're back searching for a ceramic lined insulated 24 oz coffee thermos. That or I'll just buy a coffee grinder and a french press for work and call it office supplies.
