you're not getting old, you're getting wise to Google wanting to unify everything, so they can track your behavior.
Microsoft is trying to as well, you cant have a skype mobile account if you dont have a MS account to link it to.
remember, everyone. if you arent paying for the product, you are the product.
He already is since he uses Picassa and you don't have to use Google Plus for sharing pictures, just privately storing them. If you're really concerned, just buy a domain and set it up with plenty of space for pics and get on with life.
There are multiple uploaders to Picasa, as well an email method if all else fails.
This Picasa app isn't free, but certainly is highly rated: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.imprologic.micasa&hl=en
This is the email method: https://support.google.com/picasa/answer/83342?hl=en

Photobucket is blocked by work network, and direct URLs for photobucket cannot be opened on any of my mobile devices. The m.photobucket site is the biggest pile of berkeley i've ever seen in my life.
This, very much. I'd say about one out of every 5 photobucket linked photos from someone else work for viewing for me when browsing. Then if I really do want to see the image and take the trouble to copypasta the link to a new tab, pbucket's site is so full of flashy spinny horsecrap that it makes a very noticeable dent in my browser's overall performance.
Not having an easy way to get my phone pictures hosted and posted is pretty much why I don't ever have a build thread.
Oh wow i had no idea on the email thing.
And thanks for the link on the $0.99 uploader. Might give that a shot. The free one i tried sucks.
That said, i think i've happened upon a compromise that really ends up being the same thing i was doing with Picasa before.
I didn't know how to grab direct URLs with my phone from Picasa before, so i would merely upload them from phone, then update build thread with hotlink URLs next time i was at a PC.
I can do the same thing with Flickr, just with a more elegant sorting solution, and the ability to tag photos with descriptions during the upload process.
I'm ok with this for the moment. I'd be WAY happier if i could grab hotlink URLs direct from the app, but i can live. The 1TB of free storage doesn't hurt either for when my new camera body gets here.
Added bonus: Lightroom will export directly to Flickr and has a built in album manager.

With me it was the first time I heard a Beatles song done as Muzak. I wanted to kill myself...
make the jump. Imgur is worth it. (there are some scripts out there that can download your whole picasa album and imgur has bulk upload tools)

Old is a state of mind, and I'm far too immature to ever reach old age!
But there were things that have happened to let me know I'm not exactly young any longer. Kids started calling me sir. I started listening to golden oldies radio stations. The barber started trimming my ears and eyebrows and shaving down my back, and offered to dye it a younger color. I got one of those AARP applications and was finally vintage enough to qualify. Then I joined AARP. Then I started enjoying the AARP discounts.
So far though, no one has pre-emptively offered me a senior discount! But I fear that's a yet.

I'm LOLing while reading your posts in this thread and looking at your avatar pic. Nothing helpful to ad as I use photobucket for the pics that I put online.
