So yesterday I get home, and have a note on my door, asking if I wanted to sell my jeep for parts (This is a good jeep = really good body and strong motor - just not driving due to gas millage). so I ask my wife and she claims we get notes like that all the time wanting to buy junk cars for cash or sell parts ect and she has just been throwing them away..
nerve of people calling my collection junk!

I leave notes like that all the time, just not for parts cars
I won't mind if if they wounlt use the word junk, or parts car.... actually more I think - I need a moat..
Just left my business card on an 81 scirocco s parked on the street in Burlington, VT with outdated reg and inspection sticker. Inner door panels removed and exhaust hanging down. Doesn't look like it's moved in a while. Never know and it doesn't hurt to ask.
Once I left a note on the door of a home in a trailer park about a 69 Vette being used as storage. That's right--as storage, not in storage. I get a call telling me it was their son's car and couldn't dare part with it as he died and the car hasn't moved since. Offered to do a sofa sized wall painting of it for them. Asked if their son wouldn't want know it was being used as a car. No dice. Week later and the cops are calling me as the car was vandalized (not that anyone would be able to tell) and I am a suspect. Seriously. I told the cop that I would never do such a thing, that I wanted to buy the car and restore it. End of story.
even that I am ok with.. these are scrappers wanting my prize collection
I got a "if you want to sell, I'd like to buy" note on my Land Rover one of the first times I took it out. It was a big compliment. Of course, it didn't say "...so I can strip it for parts".
A friend of mine had some money saved for college. He figured he'd need it around 2nd or 3rd year. So he bought a Bugeye Sprite with it. Drove the Sprite for a couple of years and collected all the "if you want to sell" notes it accumulated. When he needed the money for his education, he started making phone calls and easily sold the car for what he paid. And in the meantime, he had a lot more fun than he would have if the money was in the bank.
Brought (had towed) home a nonrunning LS400 recently, no garage room so it sat in my driveway. Not two weeks later I came home to a note on my door asking if I wanted to sell it. Nobody ever asked to buy any of my other cars, aside from a nonrunning rx7 that was hidden in the courtyard of my old house.
The first week I had my old 240SX I received a couple notes asking if I wanted to sell. I have had someone ask on the 79 Olds and that is how I got the most recent Olds.

i've been thinking of dropping a similar note on a car in my neighborhood. a couple months ago this guy picked up a 1g rx7 gsl-se and was running it up and down the street, then put some minilites on it. it's been sitting in the same spot for a couple weeks collecting dust now and i'm wondering if he broke it or has already lost interest

I wish someone would put one of those notes on my beaten-down 944 turbo!

You can always just drop it off in my yard!
My car LOOKS sort of like a "parts only" car, but isn't. No one ever leaves notes on it, just flyers for all sorts of crap.
I am amazed at how many ads there are on CL offering to buy cars...WITHOUT titles, as well as all those tiny signs stuck in the grass on the right of way in this and the last city I lived in. Somehow, these buyers manage to miss the cars and trucks that are truely abandoned.

I don't get the notes (cars in the garage at home), but 4-5 times in the past year people have asked me if the Mini was for sale. I always just tell them it is not for sale and they usually say something like, "if you ever want to sell it call me first". That's nice, but I don't get their names or know who they are except one guy who left me with his business card.
Multiple times recyclers aka 'the junkman' has shown up and asked if I wanted to get rid of the 'junk' in my back yard. That's not junk son, that's material for my future projects!
I missed out on a nice FIAT 124 spyder because I didn't leave a number. Week later it showed up at the shop where I work. Guy who bought it got it for $300 and the car needed very little work. Seller was leaving town and didn't want to ship/take car. Kick myself about that one a lot.
again - thats cool - i would be honored if somone wanted my car to bring back to life - I had that with my audi - guy stopped to see what was up with it.. but leaving a note telling me they buy cars for junk title or not or asking to part out a car that really dosnt look bad at all irked me.. Guy stopped by again last night - wife was home and he talked to her about taking our "junk" cars..

Not "might," but "will."
92-93 Integra GSR is best Integra, ever.
Does it still have the B17?
It's not Aztec Green, is it?
I get them knocking on the door all the time about the Chevelle. Occasionally they ask about the RX-7 too. No biggie, it's nice to actually own something other people are interested in.

Gosh, you are good. Yup stock B17, in Aztec green. Needs a clutch and some body work, but for $800 I'm willing to do it. I want a 5 speed DD, because I just got my license and the Z isn't going to be ready until the end of July. So I've really been on the lookout for something. Plus my dad has LOADS of Honda stuff in his shop

I know what you mean, I've had some offers that were hard to turn down for my Z, but it's my first car and I can't let go of it before I even finish it.
I have a RB bumper in back of the shop was offered a $100 bucks for it , has overdrive and a hard top ,title , jeez scrap its worth $400 if I wet the carpets ...... Leave notes but mention you restore and recycle not just scrap the car and rush to the beer store
I recently had a stripped out BMW 320is on my trailer in my driveway along with two fairly complete TR7s waiting to be parted out parked next to it. There was also a nice sized pile of parts recently removed from the cars. One of those guys stopped by to ask my wife about getting rid of them for her. Pretty bad when you don't even recognize your own kind! What kind of idiot asks about scrapping a shell that's all ready sitting on a trailer. Didn't even have wheels or a suspension. By the way, scrap steel is $250 a ton right now. Your basic car is going to get you $400 even if you don't take the time to cut out the cats, and remove the alloy wheels.
