We get some form of winter every year.

Today's version just happens to offer a bit of snow falling on relatively warm ground. The two inches at my house barely covered the grass and didn't start covering the roads until late in the day. Since the high temp never reached the freezing level, that means everything that was once liquid on the road is now ice.

For an area already replete with bad drivers and little equipment to deal with snow/ice, that's bad. Traffic has been in gridlock since early afternoon and makes me happy I stayed home today. I haven't even had my first beer - yet.

At this moment, I'm listening to local radio and there are reports of people stuck in traffic for over five hours.

My 4Runner sounded like a coffee can full of rocks this morning. -17F will do that apparently. I hope I didn't hurt anything.

Irony: the freezers at work were warmer at 0F than it was outside all day.

Been living in Kannapolis, NC for 19 years. This is the first year my water pipes have frozen. Whatever happened to global warming? Pictures of Atlanta on my tv right now. Glad I'm not there. Snow can be dealt with. Not much you can do on ice.

With that big snow the midwest had a few weeks ago (on the 6th?), the snow was blowing sideways and kept tripping the motion sensor on the door at the ice rink. The Lobby of the ice rink was colder than the ice rink itself.

I think this afternoon I'll need to break out my shorts and t-shirts. It's going to be 21F. Much better than the -11 yesterday morning, and yesterday's high of 2. Or did it reach 3?

Not trying to attack you, but I really hate when people say that. It's cold where I am, right now, so surely global warming can't be real. I really hate that fallacy.
