Just watch how many people stand up and grab their stuff the instant the plane lands...

Those are the ones who will screw up getting out in an emergency.

I mean i stand up when the opportunity presents itself because I was sitting at a horrible angle in a sedentary position in a pressurized tube but don't rush to get my stuff like some heathens.

I would think damage to aircraft wiring between cockpit and engine FADEC (think really well regulated ECU) would cause the FADEC to command either a shutdown or engines run at idle as anything else would be more dangerous.  Any aircraft propulsion engineers or certification folks in the house?  I don't have anyone close by currently to ask.

My guess is that it was freewheeling down.  Takes a long time for that much mass to stop moving.  If the engine was "running" and couldn't have been more than idle or that whole airframe is moving.  Those planes are certified to take off and land with one engine.
