HELP ME GRM! You're my only hope!
OK, maybe it's not that bad. In JH and HS I rode my bike a LOT, did a bit of weightlifting and played football right when I was going through a growth spurt. I wound up with 26" thighs and a 38-40" waist. I wore Levi's W40 L30 560s (loose seat and thigh) for years but they quit making them. I like to wear them low (AKA under the gut). I've tried every other style they make but none of them have enough room for my thighs.
I can't be the only one in this predicament, I've seen your pictures. ;^)
Do any of you have suggestions for brands/styles I should look at?
Wrangler relaxed fit boot cut. Best ive found.

I like Gap / Old Navy 'Ultimate Taper' for khakis. Not sure if they have a similar cut for jeans.
"These jeans fit really well" said no hockey player ever.
I don't wear jeans that often because of this. I usually go with some sort of khaki or "adventure" pant, like these, or these. I find they're more comfortable than jeans, slightly dressier, but can be worn anywhere informally as well.
BUT THATS NOT WHY YOU'RE HERE! So, jeans. There used to be an American Eagle jean line that was good. Then the quality went way down, but the price did not (or they discontinued it? I can't remember). Lucky has some, but far too expensive and the quality also took a nosedive based on the last two pair I had in college (9 years ago, YMMV).
These are the only jeans I wear anymore. Urban Star. They're not supposed to be skinny jeans, but for me, they are. But they're stretchy, by far the most comfortable jeans I've worn. They only last about 1-2 years, which is about what I expect at the price. I stock up and buy 3-4 pairs at a time. I wish they still had them in gray.
There is also this brand that was started specifically for hockey players, but I don't have experience with them as I can't pay that much for jeans. https://www.gongshowgear.com/collections/men-bottoms/products/hockey-legs-dark-wash-jeans

Damn, beaten to it!
I'm basically built like a scottish rugby player. Lots of leg power, not much leg length. Levi 559s work pretty well for me.
I'm wearing Menards relaxed fit boot cut jeans for $12/pr.
I've pretty much given up on jeans. I'm wearing more sweats/drawstring pants/whatever they call these things. My wife got me some for Christmas that were Michael Strahan Brand. Supremely comfortable, casual, IDGAF style. I approve.
I've tried most companies "Athletic Fit" jeans. They make it about 1/2 way up my thighs. No BS. Honestly 560s were the only jeans that I felt comfortable in. I just measured a pair. The waist is 42" and the upper thigh at the crotch is 29". I tried Levi's 541, 550, 559, 569, and Work Pants. Huge waists and tight thighs. I tried a pair of Lee Relaxed fit. No Beuno.

When my dad used to squat 700 regularly, He had to have his jeans custom made. I'd try a pair from MTailor.. about $100 a pair.. https://www.mtailor.com/shop?type=Jeans
I feel for you, I'm a 34-36" waist with big legs from years of swimming, soccer and running. Last I measured my thighs were 27" around and calves were about 19"
Old Navy Loose fit with Flex have been good to me. The flex isn't as spandex-like as other flex jeans, they feel like normal jeans with just a little more give. I used to go through the loosest cut of American Eagle jeans pretty quickly in High School and College.

Those look like they might work. We even have an Old Navy in town. I'll have to stop by there this weekend.

The best part is they are pretty cheap too, especially when they run 50% off sales. Give them a shot, I'm a 34 inseam, I could see a shorter inseam being a tighter fit in them though.
The flex is a thing. Not stretchy as much as giving.
I rock $15-20 wrangler flex jeans, but I sound like a slighter build at 34w and 34-36l.
Flex.
I've been wearing jeans from LL Bean after finally giving up on Levi's.
The Bean jeans are comfortable, last forever and come in (I think) four different cuts.
I have both Classic fit and Relaxed.
30" waist, 21" thighs, 16.5" calves - No problems with pants at the thighs. It's the calves. I also rock the Wrangler flex for most pants needs.

I was doing 635 at 162lbs. my freshman year in HS. I'm not desperate enough to move to tailored pants yet.

I came here expecting to be giving advice on 5A’s and nylon vs wood tips....
I’ll second Woody on the LL Bean recommendation. They’re more forgiving for those of us with shorter in seams. Classic fit for me.
Levi's still has their 550 line of relaxed fit jeans. I don't have experience with this line, but they also have "Stay Loose Carpenter" jeans that may be worth a look.

Weight lifter here. Seriously this is the one.
Even if I buy the correct waist size 559s fit my legs and calves. Not sure hwo they do it but its the go to stable for lifters and hockey players.
If you're willing to move away from denim, Carhartt work pants are built for people who do stuff and are built accordingly. Plus, hammer loops.
