since we don't have a Topic aimed specifically at jobs that GRM'ers might want … I thought I'd post this here … and Staff, if you feel is should go under another heading, please feel free to move it

this is a post pulled from the ETRSCCA.ORG

I can put anyone interested in the job in touch with the guy that posted it

APTUS DesignWorks is looking to hire an engineer/designer or two. APTUS is East Tennessee's best and most awesome design and engineering firm. We do product development and design of industrial automated machinery. For more info about APTUS, visit http://www.aptusdesignworks.com.

We have been looking for an electrical designer/engineer for a while. Our immediate electrical design needs are for PLC programming and design for industrial automated equipment. Experience with various programming languages, circuit board layout, and electrical product design would be a huge plus for use in our product development work. A mechanically minded person is a necessity since our design work tends to be heavily mechanical in nature. Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D parametric CAD software is also a plus.

Recently, we have become very busy with project requests from existing customers and new customers, so we are also looking to expand our mechanical design/engineer staff. All candidates must be proficient in SolidWorks or other parametric modeling software. Experience with automated equipment and product design is a huge benefit. Must be mechanically minded. Experience with hands-on mechanical maintenance and repairs is good as well.

So is that saying they'd overlook someones lack of engineering background if the candidate had good Solidwork/CAD skills knew their way around PLCs?

What's interesting is that they have no mention of a formal education needed. Every bit of what they require can be learned by one's self. Maybe there's hope for me yet.

You'll need to log in to post.
