Detroit's ex-mayor just got sentenced to 28 years. I'm sure there will be appeals, etc, but at least he's going away for quite a while.

What's funny is to hear the local news talking heads say "this is FINALLY the end"- totally ignoring the appeals phase to trials.
He's going to appeal- wouldn't anyone who gets a 28 year sentence?
So we will hear more about it.
This article says Ferguson gets sentenced tomorrow.

Prosecutors say Kilpatrick used the mayor's office to steer $127 million in contracts to Ferguson, a contractor and head of Ferguson Enterprises. Perhaps, but appeals are much harder to win because you lose the benefit of the doubt.

I think he'll get to be in prison, but this isn't the end, for sure.
I bet there will be at least 2 appeals. Being a federal case- it's track to the SCOTUS, but I don't think they will get it- it will stop below that.
Anybody that knows Kwame (not that we KNOW him, but we know him) knows that he'll work the system to the fullest extent possible. If he's 100% certain that he'll lose his appeal he'll still appeal simply because he can. Simply because it makes trouble for others. Simply so he can say he's being persecuted. Simply because he's a monumental DB.

his role model will probably be Marion Barry... convicted, sentenced, RE-ELECTED .. so don't expect the media to leave him alone

Exactly. When the majority of voters are thugs, thugs will be elected. No surprise there.
Fancion Stinger is now a news girl in Indy, after she got fired from a Detroit tv station for dating someone involved in the Synagro deal. The list of lives damaged by this goon is huge. And Kwame has zero remorse. 28 years isn't long enough.
