Latest on the Bronco

I hear ya... I really don't understand how some folks spend what they do on cars...  That Wildtrak version looked really cool - until I saw the $48K base starting price. Ah... no, I'm not paying that.  And I'm probably in a better position than many to actually buy something like this.

This is probably the first new car (truck) unveil I've been excited about in a while.  I've kept that excitement pretty quiet since the Mrs. isn't a huge car nerd, so I was pretty surprised to get home from work and get hit with a bunch of questions about the Bronco.  

We put our names down on the order list last night. Still deciding on trim level and 2 vs 4 door.  I know it will have the 2.7 and the Sasquatch package, but from there not sure yet.  We are leaning 2 door, but I do like the idea of a little more interior space.....Luckily there is plenty of time to decide.

Factory 2 inch lift, with factory 37s

I haven't been this excited about a new vehicle debut since the Challenger showed up again 12 years ago. I'm still pretty excited about that, especially after sampling the 2015+ cars. This thing has got me. By the time the hysteria settles down, I'll be ready for a new DD. This is easily in the running. It would be fun both in the nice weather and the crappy New England winters.

Again, I'd be happy with a Base 2dr with a stick. That should have just about everything my current DD has equipment-wise, except it will be able to crawl over just about anything with some light mods. Aftermarket will be huge on these, so accessories can be added later. Would be nice to have that Sasquatch package and the Black Diamond trim, but that's at least $10k more than the Base, from my estimation.

Not to sound hyperbolic, but did Ford get literally everything right?

-Real 4wd capability on every trim

-M/T available on most every trim

-Stripper trim you can build into a beast

-Factory "Rubicon" trim that comes pre-beasted

-Factory "Raptor" trim

-Mall-crawler trim to sell to the divorced dads

-Hardcore off-road package available on every trim

Plus it looks great.  Looking forward to seeing about 100000000 in my area with mandatory Maryland-crab window stickers.

I'd like a manual with the bigger engine, other than that I think they nailed it.  Follow through will be the big part.

I kinda wish they had come out on schedule.... Already got my new truck, but damn they did good. Glad to seethe 2.7, I just hope the auto trans is better than the rangers! 

I'm surprised at all the comments about the towing capacity - with a stubby vehicle like this, I don't think I'd want to try towing anything beyond a light camper.  If you want to tow something heavy, get a full size truck.

Perhaps... but I'm curious what the new one looks like when parked next to a 2nd or 3rd generation Bronco - which were considered full-size when they were new.

same trans as the F150's.  seems like it needs a lot of miles to adapt to your driving...  drive like a grandpa and it skips gears like crazy, shifts clunky..

Well, yeah you're not wrong. My heart wants a 2 door but I also want to tow a big boat all over the place. I've got a nice truck but that doesn't leave monetary room for the Bronco too. In perfect land I could have a capable off road vehicle that was small enough to fit down tiny trails and still happily tow a 22' tritoon to the coast. 
 

oh, and it should get 30mpg and cost 20k too. 
 

I think the desire for towing capacity is as realistic as complaining about the price. You just can't something for nothing.

Not problematic AFAIK, just sucked to drive. Mat it and you could literally count to 3 before it shifted. I test drove A new ranger. 

Maybe it just needed to learn as Fueled by Caffeine says.

That turbo 2.3 makes much more horsepower than the old 5.8 (270 vs. 210) and nearly as much torque (310 vs. 328). That's rad.

I really like this new Bronco. Very cool of Ford to offer the Sasquatch package on all trim levels. Make mine the 2dr base in Grabber Blue, with the 2.3/7 speed and the Sasquatch package. 

Well 3 people I know (2 I work with and 1 family member) all got their reservation confirmation.

Trade ins of the 3 people are:

2019 Toyota 4 Runner

2020 Gladiator

2015 Wrangler 2 door. 

Ford got everything right (this from a lifelong Land Cruiser, FJ, Tacoma owner).
