I'll be there for at least a month, possibly much longer. I'm bringing my 1997 GMC Sierra. If someone wants to volunteer space I can also bring my project shifter kart.

I am personally offended by the grits hate in this thread. It's more than just oatmeal made from corn. Think of grits as butter soup, with corn as a thickener

Lock that thing up tight. Get a club, kill switch, LoJack, anything. And a set of wheel locks while you are at it.

Right? They're great! I didn't even grow up in the South and I love them! I'm eating some right now. Mmmmmm.
Re: Atlanta. Make sure you have a GOOD gps up and running because every effing road, boulevard, byway, street, court, alley, and parkway is named effing Peachtree!!
Be sure that your racism radar is on mute because you'll encounter plenty.
Be cautious on their roadways because they seem to enjoy running cut stone curbs right to the very edge of the path of travel, brush one and you can buy a new tire.
I suppose it's a fine city for some but I'm pretty sure that Sherman got his knickers in a twist after getting lost for the 73rd time on yet another Peachtree Road and did what the rest of us just dreamed about.
So, I just completed my first week at work and the job is everything I wanted it to be and more. Thirteen hour night shifts are intense, but it's a climate controlled environment and the team is great. It doesn't leave much time or energy for being a tourist, but I'll have some days off at some point.
Here's a picture from one of the places I was perched last week.
Myself and a few other techs are renting a townhouse on the south side. It's very black and I'm very fine with that. There are plenty of sketchy places around, but it's worth it for the low price and short commute.
I could use a recommendation for a place to buy some new soft toe work shoes/boots. I went to REI and I didn't find anything quite right. I'll be checking out Mountain High Outfitters and Red Wing at some point, but I'm open to other suggestions.
