So I'm in the market for another 4 wheeler for the kids. I already have a 2002 Honda TRX250EX that I bought new in '02, it's bulletproof and I love it, the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.

That being said, I've decided to buy another new TRX250X so my kids can ride together.

I've been shopping around and the MSRP on a new 2013 is $4500, and I've run across dealers offering a $200-300 off of that.

In my search I've also run across some dealers with "new" 2012 and 2011 models still in stock for well under the 2013 MSRP, and one dealer in particular has a "new" 2011 for $3200, which is $1300 off the price of a 2013, and they claim it comes with the same 1 year warranty as a new 2013 comes with. Obviously, because I'm cheap and quite often broke, this is really appealing to me. My question is- Is there any disadvantage to buying the 2011? And I'm also wondering why this particular bike has languished at the dealer for 2 years when obviously other 250s have come and gone? Should I be alarmed by this?

Thanks for any info

When I was in high school, I bought a new Honda scooter that had already celebrated two birthdays outside the factory. I forget their reasoning, but basically I got a deal on a new scooter from our local Honda dealer.
