It's my job to find a ride for the big day next month. She ex-nayed my idea of the Miata (won't fit with dress and rollbar plus it'll be raining, it is Washington in late September). No go on the P71 either (not that I blame her, it'll scare off most of the guests ) and the Javelin doesn't run. We driving her car to the honeymoon, so it'll be stashed at home all packed up.

So, that leaves a hire. There's not much to pick from if you want a classic, and I don't know what a "fair" rate is (nobody posts pricing online). Any ideas? We want to be driven, so it'll be something like a 50's Bentley or Rolls (which is cool with me). Unless a local GRMer has something and wants to make a few bucks??

Anybody done this before?

She's a Vegan, so that wouldn't probably work...

You're not supposed to eat the horse afterwards...

We hired a classic for the ride from the church to the reception (~10 miles) and the reception to the hotel (~25 miles). It was a '39 Packard, IIRC, much like the one below. I especially liked the suicide doors! Unfortunately, I don't recall the rate, but, we paid for our entire wedding so I know it wasn't too terribly much.

On a slightly different angle. On a wedding where I was a groomsman, they had one of those buses that looks like a trolley for the wedding party. Of course it was stocked with coolers of champagne, beer, snacks The 25 minute ride was one of the best parts of the wedding.

Put a post out on the Classic Motorsports board, too.

A few years ago.. a couple got married at the local church. As they descended the steps from the church towards their waiting couch.. the horns she wanted to announce their exit from the church started.. this startled both horses and they bolted... pulling their now empty carriage behind them for 3 miles until they ran into the middle of a busy intersection and were involved in a nasty accident that left both horses injured and eventually destroyed.

I have to imagine that fairytale wedding turned into a nightmare for the bride VERY quickly.

I do know the local winery, which hosts a lot of weddings in their restaurant has a couple of cars for hire. including a beautiful Roller and a matching bently

I proposed in a horse drawn handsome cab in Central Park, and our wedding ride was a 1961 Rolls Royce. Born the same year both my wife and I were.

That was a long tie ago. I have no idea what the rates were like, but it was well worth it.

Have you checked the local yellow pages yet under limousine services?

Somebody either here or on classic page has got to have something cool they could drive you in.
