I'm being encouraged to be less secretive of my business cell phone number. But I find that there are too many people who do not respect boundaries and want to discuss business late at night or on weekends. This makes me think that I may want to get a separate cell number for business and personal. Carrying two phones isn't appealing either though. Do any of you guys have phones that serve 2 different numbers? What are your thoughts on that? I assume that they can be given different ring and text tones?
Just don't answer? This was something I went through my ex-wife when she was still doing hair. She told her clients she wouldn't be available after X time, or just wouldn't answer the phone and call them back the next day.
I've had 2 phones for about 8+ years now. It's annoying at times but when I don't want to deal with business, I just leave that phone in the car, at home, etc. I have a dual sim phone too but never set it up as I have no desire for co-workers or a boss to reach me when I don't want to be reached and it's outside of business hours.
I live on the coast and if someone tries to get ahold of me and it's a day off "sorry I was offshore."
I use Google voice for a second number on my phone.
No service at the house whatsoever, and despite using Wi-Fi calling I can't dial out with the regular phone app. So voice to the rescue.
I still can't dial 911 from home, but I can manage two phone numbers
I think most dual sim phones sold now do not have 2 sim slots , but the 2nd sim is an eSim , at least thats how mine works .

I think you can still get dual SIM phones (IIRC Sony makes some), but the regular SIM + eSIM is becoming more of the norm.
That said, I have two phones, one for work stuff and one for personal use. Makes it much easier to ignore the work part if you're not near the work phone.
I carried an extra work phone for awhile but it was such a hassle. I ended up just giving it back and using my personal number for everything. I never even thought about the dual sim option. That seems genius. I wonder if you can set it to just to voicemail after business hours/weekends?
I'd rather have a dual SIM phone than carry 2 phones around. It doesn't seem easy to set just one SIM to "do not disturb" after hours, but this app (on androids) might be helpful: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.notification.hush
Edit: I only have a work phone that I use for all my personal stuff too. If I get out of hours calls I just don't answer them. They'll call back if it's important.
Can a canoe have dual SIM cards?
I just keep my phone on silent all the time. If I pick up, I pick up.
I used to have a dual sim phone for travel. If I went to France, for instance, I just bought a French burner sim for while I was there. These days, that doesn't really matter since almost every country is on the same flavor network, and my phone company works in 186 countries. As long as I don't travel to Tibet, North Korea, or Botswana, I'm pretty good. This tech may have changed, but back when I did dual-sim, I had to choose which sim to use. I couldn't get and make calls from both, I had to manually go into my settings and select the sim I wanted to use. With newer e-sims, that might not be the case any more.
I am never in my office... like maybe 5 minutes a day, so I have my work (desk) phone forwarded to my cell, and it gives me a "FWD" in front of the caller ID so I know it's a work call. My work phone software also allows me to set it to only forward from 10am to 6pm, so when I go home, it stops forwarding. Possible you could find an app for your work phone that might do the same trick?
