For hating? Maybe, but I basically lump them into the group assigned "idiots" or dare I say, "retards" You may be referring to the fact that it really doesn't affect me, which isn't the case. Many things indirectly affect people and society. I may be one person, but I still have values and beliefs to share like everyone else.

I was referring to attacking things that do not affect you and cannot be changed. Besides if you straight folks hate us so much quit making us!

You seem... angry. Where did I say I hated gays? I hate the ones that make them look bad, and unfortunately, that tends to be the only ones I run into. How could I hate somebody for being something that they are simply born as? Now that would be truly intolerant A gay guy isn't born with a listhp and a limp wrist, unless that is part of it (I honestly wouldn't know, but considering what KATYB has stated, I sincerely doubt it).

you are born gay. however ive have known plenty of guys who have come out and all of a sudden changed thier entire personality. ive also known girls who have come out and done the same. that is proof that it is not neccasarily natural... are thier people naturally like that. yes. but its people trying to fit into a stereotype often that act like that.

Stats show that human sexuality is extremely fluid and does not neatly fit into the traditional categories that both sides of the aisle would like to force it into...

Wow...go on vacation for ten days and miss out on a good thread!

SVRex, sounds like you had a good conversation with him.

Let me share my own experience from the daughter point of view...when I was 20 I dated a 48 year old - we were together for five years and I count him as one of my closest and most trusted friends now. My mother was hell-bent on hating him, and refused to meet him for a year. My (step)father, on the other hand, asked me three questions: (1) Is he good to you? (2) Does he treat you with respect? (3) Are you happy?? When my parents finally did meet him, they understood what I saw in him and adored him.

Kudos to you for being so open with your reservations, starting a discussion and getting to know him better. In case you ever doubt, you're an amazing dad, and I think your daughter is super lucky to have you looking out for her!

Here's hoping everything works out for the best.

I would disagree with that. I think its the other way around. Maybe in years past people would act flamboyant because they thought they had to to fit in but even in the younger generation now there is still flamboyance, sometimes very young and without any outside help.

When someone is closeted they try to hide those traits. When I was in the closet I was constantly thinking in my head "is this gay, do I look gay?" probably about as much as straight guys think "boobies". When you're out there's no need to hide it any more.

Middle school kid where I was teaching apparently wasn't thinking that way, and probably could have stood to think it a bit more. I didn't have any issue with the homosexuality thing, I just did not want to hear him (or anyone for that matter) sing Katy Perry songs.

lol do not come to my work then... me and the girls whenever one comes on the radio(which is quite often on pandora :)) make it a point of acting stupid to it.

I have a lisp and I was constantly being called gay when I was a child. I spent a few years in speech therapy that made it less pronounced. That didn't fix it, but at least adults have enough common sense, good manners or fear of an ass-whipping not to bring it up in a hateful manner.

Every single gay person I've ever met has had very good diction, not a lisp among them.

I guess my point is f**** stereotypes.

The most feminine acting guy I have ever known was also a long haul trucker. He was definitely not gay. OTOH, the metrosexuals I have met seem to purposely cloud things just to get attention. Not into that. Be who you are, dammit.
