I really want a van. My Dad bought an 88' GMC conversion van new. My biggest memory of that thing is one day he was going to take me to toys r us and when we pulled into the parking lot I ran from the back of it and smacked my head on the goofy tv that was hanging down just behind the front seats. I hit it so hard I did a complete flip in the air and landed face down in between the front seats.

A place I used to work bought three 99' Ford E150's new. We used the crap out of them. Had them filled from floor to ceiling front to back with broken concrete/dirt and gravel. All of them went over 150k miles with no problems and very minimal maintnence. Very reliable.

Personally I would have to choose GM. The idea of a van is so appealing to me. However I just can't take the hit in fuel mileage.

Wow... serious "want". I doubt it's a "Cleveland" 351. Probably a 351W or maybe a 351M. Either way, not a deal breaker. I'd almost feel bad ripping the interior out of that van... I suppose the question for me is would I jump on that one since the price isn't bad, or hold out for an extended body version... potentially with a diesel...

The gas mileage is not great - my '90 E150 would get 18 hwy on a good day. Typically 15 or so around town. That would be tough to swallow since I complain about the low-mid 20's I get with the E30 and the g/f's Volvo 850. The Cummins gets around 20. But it wouldnt' be a DD, so the mileage is less of a concern.
