2010 Mazda5 Sport, automatic with 68k miles. Bought new in Feb 2011 when the 2012's were already on the lot.
She's a teacher and while parked at school my wife's car got hit by a school bus rear bumper. Tomorrow I go the a body shop for an estimate. Who wants to play, "Guess that Damage Amount"?

My pics at home...
I miss the old days - my sister mashed up every fender on her ‘74 Beetle. Hammer it out from the back side, bondo, sand, and spray paint. Good enough.
$2750.00
$2751.00 - Sorry Datsun310Guy!
5k, cause its going to need some serios pulling, and at least 3 panels painted. Bet the light goes 450....
Does the gate still work?
I'm guessing $3500 if it does, totaled out if it doesn't.
$6345 but that's just a guess.

The gate still works. I don't think I see damage on the gate. The gate on these is all plastic.
My guess is tail light, trim panel above the side door track and the quarter panel below the door track. Also bumper cover. For this all I guess $4250
looks like $100-125 for a taillight on ebay so thats a plus I guess. I thought the other LED ones were closer to $200-300 but not sure.
#16 is a big part. Would they replace the whole part or just fab in a new corner?
This source says $500 for part #16 but this is probably less of a parts bill and more of a labor bill issue.
$4250.
I agree they'll have to spray three panels, but they will probably try to use a pre-owned light.
Labor to replace 16 totals the car. I’m going with $6237
Wow. I was going to put in a guess, but apparently I'm WAY out to lunch.
5847.75 and not a penny more!
A nationwide search on autotrader and CarGurus for a 2010 with less than 75k miles leads me to a suspected retail value of $7,500. That means 75% of that or $5,250 could be the tipping point to totaling the car.
#16 and the labor/paint are the kicker.
$5k+ totaled.
I’ll give you $900 for it
Cheap shop or good shop giving you the estimate John?
