Appleton, Wisconsin to somewhere in south Georgia for a $1 subaru 360 shell. 19 hours each way in 1 weekend. It was fun!

Dang got some hardcore travelin' dealers.... Longest adventure I have been on is leaving here in the big old town of Belfry, KY with trailer attached to my F250, traveling to Cincy for a local forum car show/get together, then leaving there and driving to Cocoa, FL to pick up a Mustang. If anyone remembers the Waffle House by Daytona Intl Raceway on the main drag there, imagine a 40-45' long truck and trailer pulling into that parking lot. I then found out there wasn't any parking in there. OOOPS... Then I had to find a way to get out of the lot or something. I ended up backing the trailer into a spot between two parked cars and pulling forward to back down into the very rear of the parking lot between two more vehicles. Oh and everyone inside that morning was looking at us, with the look of don't hit our E36 M3 or your ass is grass.
That should have been the warning sign to not have purchased that car..... Damn lying shiny happy person.

12 hours one way to go look at a mini to buy. Was quite disappointed in the one I went to look at, but the guy had another one that I liked better and was in my budget(but more money than I brought). Had to go back home and come back a week later. 8 one way hours for a cylinder head. The seller said he'd teach me how to port it etc. Seller did exactly that and gave me about a million other parts as well as lunch. I was disappointed that the head was later to found to have a small crack. I got more than my money's worth in parts, so I wasn't entirely upset about the cylinder head.
1800 miles each way for the Esprit. ~600 each way for the $400 Rolla (now with significantly more spent).
Once in a while I check out the San Diego craigslist 240Z's. About 2100 miles each way if I find a box of cash and the right car.
Flew from NY to FL for my cobra, drove it back up.
Drove from NY to MD to test drive a civic si, then drove back down to MD a week later to buy it.
Was the extra travel cost/time worth it? Finding the EXACT car you're looking for in impeccable condition will always be worth it.
I drove from Tennessee to the coast of California and back to get my Opel GT. Dad told me you want it come and get it, so I did.
Man. I'm a travelin' lightweight. Greenville SC for two RX7 parts cars, North Carolina for both of my J-H's.
The minivan and truck were local, but I was on a roll for a while:
Los Angeles, CA to CT - co-drove the former SCC SE-R (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/1246/). LA to Phoenix the first day (hey, we picked the car up around noon). Phoenix to somewhere in OK the second day. Then, the non-stop 29 hour thrash from OK to CT (no sleep). We drove through some nasty ice/snow mix in PA, not the stuff you want to be in on Kumho MX's! Car was a dream though, it made the trip really enjoyable (despite a lack of a radio, working dash lights, speedo, etc.). The iPod with tiny computer speakers on the dash did help, though!
E36 was picked up in VA (my friend who talked me into the above trip volunteered). That trip was easy.
And since friends are enablers, I went with the same friend up to Portsmouth, NH to pick up his second B13 SE-R.
My wife and I drove to Buffalo, NY (8 hours each way) to pick up our RAV4 (out and back in one day), and we went to Philly to pick up our (former) Saab 9-3 (also out and back in one day).
OK back after abut 48 hours of no sleep due to leaving at 1:00 in the morning.
Car is safely in the garage. Everything big is OK its the small stuff that I did not check after a 7 hour drive that is adding up. Weatherstripping, battery tie down, small bend in one of the suspension mounts. Car rattles like a tin can full of bee bees but what do you expect for a 28.
I feel like a lightweight! 4.5 hours each way out and back one day from Rochester NY to Cleveland to pick up my current BMW. Stopped at the inlaws in Buffalo both ways to drop off and pick up the kids so it wasn't any big deal. Flew out and drove back 6 hours in one day Boston to Rochester NY to pick up the Wife's Volvo XC90. Much easier than the 11-ish hours from Chicago or 2 days from Tampa for other XC90s I was looking at (actually had the deal made and the flight booked on the Chicago car when the Boston dealer called me with a better-equipped, lower mile car cheaper, cost me almost as much to change the flight as the original ticket!).
How about this one... Los Angeles to Ottowa, ON for a pair of 6X pontiac heads. That was 2900 miles one way, but its kinda cheating: I was going to Toronto anyway.
I drove from LA to Hobbs, NM for a 73 Impala station wagon survivor with 58k to save it from certain demo derby demise. That one was 1100 miles in a rented Neon.
I drove from New Orleans to PA to get an 87 Olds Cutlass with 36k on it. That was 1200 miles.
The best was probably my buddy and me driving from LA to Rochester with a trailer to pick up his 1984 Firebird. That was 2700 miles with a trailer, a long stop in Vegas 'cuz he knew some horny strippers, and massive quantities of beer.
I once drove from PA to FL for a Honda 1800 that ended up being trashed, so we just went to Disney World instead.

Ok, you win! Although depending on how many years ago I would have driven the Firebird from Rochester to Vegas to meet you and your friend for the long stop and, ahem, entertainment
Visited my Dad in Cali for X-mas from Co. Hauled a XXX from there to my home. I then went to see my Mom for New Years in sunny Mi. I had a trailer behind me the entire time. Dunno, about 2600 miles?
From Barbados to Ontario for a distributor a few years ago. I could have picked one up locally, it just would have cost more than the market value of the whole powertrain, even when used.
Got one at Dom's for $50, including ignition wires, labor for removal and environmental fees. Has powered the car ever since.
Damn near NJ from central indiana for the donor car for the Escort.
Driving a parts car 750 miles back was.... "interesting."
I was going to fly into Miami not long ago and purchase an r33 Skyline- but then the wife said no- and I didn't feel like getting on a plane with 30 grand in cash for a car I may or may not purchase.
I also may have to drive a GSL-SE back from southern PA if I can convince my dad that my youngest brother doesn't deserve that car.
Wait, I do remember flying into the Florida auto auction about 12 years ago, and driving back a 93'ish BMW 535 w/ manual (non e39) and a generic former rental/least Lexus ES300. That was back when I had family with a dealership and nothing better to do.
Our trips are pretty light compared to the others posted:
NJ to western PA and back for my '95 Cummins. Had the RF tire blow out on the way back... on Sunday... in bumble-### PA... amazingly, a local Walmart had the tires (35" BFG mud Terrains on 16.5" wheels) in stock.
We also went to western PA for the g/f's Spitfire. She drove it home and other than a flakey headlight relay it was an uneventful trip.
For parts - to VA for some free Spitfire parts, although I used the trip as an excuse to visit with some friends who I don't get to see very often.
I drove 1000+ miles in 24 hours to pick up my Austin A35 "Teapot". The car was located near Mosport, Ontario and I live in NJ.
I stopped for about an hour to load the car on my trailer and turned right back around. I was held at the border for about another 30 minutes processing paperwork.
Otherwise, it was straight driving. I left my house at 2 AM and returned the next day at the same time.I hit a lake-effect snow storm both coming and going. At one point, I followed a plow truck for about an hour in upstate NY. My tow vehicle was a 2004 Ford Freestar minivan. It was great under those conditions.....probably a lot better than the '09 Chevy Express I have now.
I'm prepping the A35 for vintage racing.
This is entering Canada via the 1000 Island Bridge (windy, narrow and scary!)
The A35
Not going to win this, but here goes:
Omaha to OKC for a motorcycle: 900 miles round trip. That was about 18 hours of driving that day.
Gainesville to West Palm Beach for a $250 Mustang: 500 miles, 10 hours.

lol.....I tried to drive the SHO back from imperial, but pendot put a quick end to that......they stopped me for trailing a light fog of burned oil(leaking valve cover), and threw a fit over how the car had valid plates despite the emmisions inspection being 5 years out of date
Long story short, no fine, 5 hrs at a PN state police post, and telling uhaul I was merely using the tow dolly for in state activities(returned in Indiana) It was worth the $700 car....lol
