So got up this morning and went to the shop to work on the tracks.
We get them all on the Jeep and start the final process of getting the mounting brackets in place. They bolt up to brace at suspension points to prevent roll over. Well guess what? Not one of the brackets was right! The front ones were the wrong shape and angle while the rears were a good 6 inches short. So back come off the tracks and we have to call them on Monday.
I will post up some pics later.
Looks like the assembly is anchored in front to keep it from rotating:
and they all seem limited to 40mph or so on a hard surface, from 5miles to indefinite on road depending on vehicle weight and ambient temperature. If you have a lighter than rated vehicle and the temps are cool, you can drive indefinitely on the road at 40mph (all ratings for maximum tire life). I'm sure you could put the hammer down if you felt like replacing the treads frequently. I can't imagine those being cheap, though.
I saw tracks like that in a movie last night. It was about these 5 guys who go on an adventure holiday in Europe. They are driving to Berlin and their car breaks down, and then it's the whacky times they have getting back home. They had those track things and they hit a pothole or something at a crossroads and the track broke. Have you guys seen the movie? Fury or something like that.
Isn't that the one where the one bro gets into a knife fight with another bro over the last can of Monster? Think his name was Sherman, or something.
