you should try one of the AOM beers out there that are way better than corona:

Pacifico, Sol, Victoria (new to the states) are worlds better that pee beer corona.

Edit- As for the "mexican" beers, the problem is that we DO NOT get the same stuff as it is in mexico. Sol is awesome, but here it sure ain't!

I'm on a tight budget and like to drink beer, so Natty Ice fills the requirements - cheap, high alcohol content and relatively low on calories. When the budget allows for more "luxuries", it still doesn't/won't effect the beer found in my fridge.

The only beers I will avoid drinking is Pabst and Hurricanes. Discounting malt liquor, my basement beer rankings in terms of what I preferred to drink in college would be as follows...

I am coming around to High Life and MGD, it helps when the one bar has 75 cent bottles of High Life for Happy Hour on Thursdays...

And for the record, I love good expensive beers, high alcohol microbrews especially. I am working on reviewing what I drink as part of my blog, but I will never be above the college classics...

Aside to oldsaw: I'm like you, but I've been drinking the Bud Ice instead of Natty. They're within pennies of each other here, don't know why I like it better, but I do.

I'm not above Busch when working on machinery and/or sitting around a fire. Otherwise, I prefer good beer. If I'm out and want to drink on a budget, I'll take a whiskey ginger ale well drink over whatever cheap beer that they're running. I keep trying to tolerate PBR, but I can't even finish a pint can.

MIlwaukee's Best was a favorite in College. Though by "favorite" I mean available for a quarter for a cup (or full tray with the added tray discount making it $3 for 14).

There are plenty of tasty, and often relatively inexpensive Mexican beers. Corona just isn't one of them.

natty anything ugggg... but then I say the same for all the AB products... but a beer snob I've never been accused of being ... since I usually drink Miller Lite... when in a Mexican restaurant it's usually Dos Equis

+1 to Dos Equis. I will only drink the brown bottle though. Green Bottle Dos Equis is nothing to write home about. I will put in a recommendation for Tecate for a good Mexican beer (cheap also). Usually runs about $14-$16 for a case in PA.

You need to find Old Rasputin on draft! It usually goes on a Nitro tap (like Guiness) and become almost a different beer. All the flavor, but creamy and smooth. It's like a beershake.

I sometimes fantasize about crashing a frat party and secretly replacing the keg of Macro-Lite with some Old Ras... and then convincing people that it's time to do a round of beer bongs and keg stands.

I'm pretty sure there would be fatalities.

It's kind of like ice cream. Go to the grocery store and they have everything from cheapo gallon buckets, to Breyer's, to Haagen Dazs. It's all a luxury but not that expensive of one. When I'm in the mood for ice cream, I'm going to at least get a quart of Breyers or Dryers. It's noticeably more expensive, but certainly isn't going to break the bank. I can understand why people buy the jumbo cheapo gallon stuff, but I'm going to get something better. Occasionally I pop for the high end stuff and every now and then I get a craving to track down some fancy local handmade ultra-gourmet stuff.

I won't look down my nose at people buying economy. But busting out reverse-snobbism because somebody's indulgence is to spend a few extra bucks because they really like Ben and Jerry's is just asinine. Yes, there's a pretty significant difference in quality.

In the end, the only really bad ice cream is no ice cream.

A local brewery has been selling black ale that's been aged in bourbon casks over nitro lately.

I guess it's also different here in OK.

Since we have the 3.2% rule, all the Natural Light/AB products are all 3.2%. And they don't sell the higher point varieties (of AB products) at the liqour store. So all that stuff here is REALLY watered down cheap crap that won't even do the job.

I'm no beer snob, as my regular beer is very much an affordable macrobeer, but NL it's a pretty bad excuse for a beer.

I don't care what beer you drink. Here's my rule. If I bring XYZ "good" or "premium" beer, and you bring ABC E36 M3 beer, I'd better not catch you drinking mine. You consume like you bring. By bringing a high quality beer, I can drink anything out the cooler. By brining natty lite, you are stuck with it.

Can't tell you how many times this has happened this summer already. "oooh, Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra.... I'll have one of those instead of the busch that I brought." berkeley YOU! I like me a Busch, a PBR, Yeungling, etc, but I choose when to drink them.

Yes we do, we have damn good reason to. I'd rather drink free water than cheap, nasty beer. For that matter I'd rather drink one good beer at 3x the cost than 3 crap beers. But I drink it for the beer itself, not to get drunk.

That is the truth right there. But then again cheap beer does not have to be bad beer, you just have to look for them.

For cheap and good beer, I had a beer judge (who at the time was sharing $40 bottles of wine) inform me that Simpler Times is a good cheap lawnmower beer. Stupid cheap for a 6pack at Trader Joe's, and nothing fancy but is like taking a macro lager and doing it better.

With a closet full of homebrew, I'm pretty well set on affordable beer though.
