Not a bad idea, at that.
"Route of the Jackrabbit" is a play on CB&Q's "Route of the Zephyrs" slogan. The Jackrabbit will be Sagebrush Flats' "name train", and will consist of a 2-6-0 or 4-6-0 steamer, and a handful of old-timey passenger cars. Just a little tongue-in-cheek fun to poke at the rivet-counters...
Got some more work done on the "Pet Store" project. Made a display rack to give the interior some depth and a pallet with food for the drive through pick up. It doesn't looks like much, but it was a lot of work.
Got most of the base painting on the "Pet Store" project today:
Then I made this for the front window:
First, a 4 foot shark . . . in N Scale:
And then, a tank. Yes, it's too small for a 4 foot shark, but once it's in the front window, no more will show anyways.
Unfortunately, can't think of a way to make frickin' lasers.
Assembled and lit. Still have a little work to do to cut down on "light bleed".
Amtrak, makin' kids late for school since 1970
Got the "Pet Store" put down on the layout today:
Got the Pet Store sign done today. Of course, there's another family joke behind this one as well. When we were kids, my sister and I got two allegedly female gerbils. A few months later, we were surprised to find a pretty substantial litter of baby gerbils.
I just remembered I have these two N-scale 90s Ford truck models that I picked up at a hobby shop. I didn't really have any plan for them, I just thought they were neat. I don't know if they fit your time period for your layout, but I could part with them if you'd like to have them.

If you aren't going to use them, I'm sure I can find a spot where they'll fit. Shoot me a PM and we'll figure out a reasonable price. I can probably use the F-150 as a MOW truck. I've sort of casually been looking for a tow truck for an "illegally parked in a handicapped spot" vignette. My nephew needs a chair van for transport, so I promised him somewhere on the layout there would be some prick chasing his recently illegally parked BMW on the back of a tow truck. He was pretty enthusiastic about it.
In reply to kazoospec :
PM sent. I love the idea of towing of the illegally parked car.
In reply to kazoospec :
One of my favorite things when I towed was snatching cars out of handicap spots.

Haven't checked in here in a while.
Loving the railroad. The pet store is great.
My wife used to manage a pet store, the gerbil thing hit home. She would often come to work to discover a "mystery box" on the doorstep. It was usually full of "bonus" guinea pigs, hamsters or gerbils. As long as she got there before they chewed out.
Got the driveways/lot painted and groundwork in. It'll take a couple days to dry, so I have to figure out a short project so I don't end up watching election coverage.
Painting HO scale bricks suuuuuuucks. But it looks good even before I mortar the joints, paint the details and weather it.
Today's "because I don't want to watch election coverage" mini-project:
Tonight, to avoid watching news coverage, I made a cell tower. Kazookid2 is pretty excited about the fact that it will have a blinking light on the top when it's done.
In reply to kazoospec :
That gives me the idea to put a windmill farm on my layout with all the red lights that blink ominously at night. But that would take up a lot of space.
In reply to slowbird :
Make them functional & use them to power the layout!
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
Gotta have a real breezy house for that one!
In reply to TurnerX19 :
Or you could use an electric fan if you wanted to be all ironic and stuff.
Got a few more things done:
Groundwork on the "Pet Store" is pretty much done:
Got the cell tower put down on the layout. Still some detail and groundwork to do, but the blinking light works, so Kazookid2 is happy.
Current status of our "downtown" area.
Oh, and we now have moose (mooses, meese? LOL)
