Nope, we are always falling for the same crap over and over again.

I don't know, at the risk of floundering the thread, Christie might be a little different--at least he doesn't seem as afraid of doing the right thing even if it isn't in line with his party values. Not perfect by any stretch, but he doesn't seem like he'd be the same old boss.
Of course, that is the only one on either side that I see in such a way, and I'm not sure how electable he is.

keep in mind that who the President is really doesn't matter all that much ... (+I'm betting that our next pres. has already had 8 yrs of actually running the country LOL )
I think it was Clinton that had what's called a "super majority" sometime during his 2 terms ... still couldn't get things passed that he championed ... too much in-fighting with-in his own party ...
for Christie to get things passed, he would have to have AT THE LEAST his own party in lockstep ... the Republican leadership is so fractured that that probably won't happen ...
+partisan politics is so deeply entrenched that co-operation across the aisle doesn't and won't happen .... if you go against your parties agenda, they won't support you when you try to get re-elected to the gravy train ...
sad as the thought may be ...I think we're looking at this scenario every yr or two for the foreseeable future
onto the third page, and not a single turd was slung.

I saw a news article where some WW ll vets went to see the memorial. due to the shut down, it was blocked off. Didn't stop them.

Those motorized scooters are strong!
Hey! We aren't so shut down that we can't be petty little berkeleyers... he even had all his papers in order.

That's hilarious!
Time to clean house. Personally I'd love to see Eric Can't/Or get booted out on his rich ass. He'll still get lifetime health insurance and a lifetime of retirement pay but at least he won't be f'in me in the butt like he does all the other people in my state.
I keep saying this. The minute politicians have to live like us (here's a list):
~ Have the same health coverage as the avg citizen
~ Have to deal with the TSA instead of flying private jets.
~ Have to live by the same laws as we do.
That's the minute sh!t will change. Until then, we're all screwed. We have royalty that are above the law and live in a different world than us. They're called politicians.

It's too early to tell. Next year's mid-terms will be interesting.
Keep in mind that the Tea Party (love em or hate em) began as a result of profligate spending policies. They (and many others) elected the same people who are now interrupting the "business as usual" routine because they are representing the voters who sent them to DC. Those new bosses are not like the old bosses.

Dude, pay attention.
Politicians in the Senate made certain Congress critters keep their current level of health coverage. The guy you hate so much is in the party that wanted Congress to fall under the purview of the ACA.
Do you know what party controls the Senate?

LOL. Attention diverted. Mission accomplished. But yeah, both sides are a joke. R's, they won't defund it, so get over it. Mr.O and D's, remove all exemptions, waivers, etc. and make it for everybody..since it's so good and let's get on with it.

No... no they won't.
The thought of another election cycle (probably only a few month away at this point) brings me great dread... it's just going to be baaaaad.

Yeah no kidding. More of the same to come...

That actually appears to be a bit of a political stunt. I think both "sides" were involved.
My wife and I just registered to vote in our new state, Maryland. Being the people that we are (intelligent and independent), we did our registrations separately, but on the car ride home we realized we'd both registered as Libertarians. Which basically means, in Maryland, we won't be able to vote in the primaries. Which basically means, in Maryland....nothing, since it's such a hard-left state that voting is a futile effort. Frankly, the only reason we registered is that we were already at the DMV to get our licenses changed.
There's a small movement to split off "Western Maryland" as it's own state, since those 5 counties are essentially unrepresented by the rest of the state. It'll fail, obviously, but the fact that this is happening in so many other places right now gives me pause about the future of this country.
Meanwhile in crazy-ville:

Yes I know it is Huff-Po, but the message is the same. So which is it, does she want to shut it down, or keep things open?
My first step in resolving this going forward is getting rid of gerrymandering. Both sides have carefully drawn up electoral districts that pander to their base, who then own them. Instead have districts drawn up by a computer program that only has geographical and population data, absolutely no info on past voting, demographic, socio economic data, nothing. Also insist on maximum aspect ratio of the districts to prevent stupidly drawn areas to include/exclude one group of another. I think that will be a start towards getting rid of the extremists of both parties.

This is a non-partisan bitch fest. Get on board and start complaining!
Please don't flounder up the thread by trying to blame one side. IMO both sides are equally as to blame here for various reasons.
