Well that's great. One problem. I never said it was a lie!

I know you didn't. My main issue was with this:

Trying to say it was another made up meme blah blah blah.

Do you think the two events happening at the same time are coincidence?

I guess that "relevant" part was irrelevant? But please go on with your relevant straw man argument.

This is the best thing about this thread right here staring you in the face "BITE ME". Does a recipe exist for such an awesome work of culinary art praytell?
Why yes... yes there is... http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/peanut-butter-chocolate-banana-cream-pie-105153.aspx
Why thank you Mr.F, I daresay your productivity in the last hour has outpaced that of both houses of Congress in the last 3 months, Again, Thank You.

You're welcome. FWIW, the picture is not of "chocolate pudding banana cream pie" as described by Mr Corvair. It turns out that is a similar, but different and equally delicious looking recipe.

I missed out on reading this thread since this morning ... so I've skipped 4 pages ... (probably haven't missed all that much LOL )

this may have already been covered ... if so ... sorry

if legislative branch/the executive branch wants to shut down the government... I guess I'd be ok with that ...if and only if they shut down their pay and benefits ...

I'm thinking that things would get moving a lot sooner if that was the case ... yeah, I know, fat chance

George Washington said: The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

What I think we aught to do is not try to back third parties in hopes of shaking up the system, but have a bunch of reasonably intelligent people who are not sycophantic extremists occupy whichever political party they more closely align themselves with. Dislike the Rep's less than the Dem's? Great. Go to your local chapter of party meetings with 20 friends who are like-minded and tired of the way they do things and start taking them over on a local level.

I will just say one thing: I wanted to go camping this weekend at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. I have paid my annual pass fee. However, I can not enter the park. Does this mean I get a partial refund on my fee?

Unfortunately, our system of govt favors a 2-party system and as long as that is the case, nothing will change.

This two party system was crafted and fostered by...both parties. The League Of Women Voters used to run a very effective, and non-partisan, televised debate that had politico's shaking in their boots. It had the power the sway elections. The League was ousted by a coalition of both political parties who then decided that they would run the debates for further national elections. (Sarcasm now) I'm sure it was not so they could run the debates to their benefit and not to the benefit of the voters. (Sarcasm ended)

In my state, you'll never see a third party candidate in a debate until this two party system is broken or outlawed. Since we put the foxes in the hen house that will never happen.

See Gerrymandering to rig future elections for one party into perpetuity.

In other news...sh!t just got real in DC.

QFT. The only way there will EVER be a change is if people get involved. Think about it - how do you think the Tea Party folks made their way into the GOP? Enough like-minded people made it happen.

I've pondered joining my local party for awhile now. Not because I really want to, but because I feel like I have to... a civic duty, if you will.
